Congrats coach! I'm surprised he didn't just reach down and cut the line when he figured out it wasn't a state record crappie? Excellent job!

Great fish! Would not matter to me how i caught it. Seems to me it would be a lot harder to catch a fish of that caliber on 10lb test and a light wire jig than the beefy stuff I use. Congratulations!

Ok....here's the deal.....yes , John Holland and I were "crappie fishing " today at Fork....and probably caught just as many bass as we did crappie..... I was lucky to happen to hang into a very beautiful "fat" girl....did she put up a fight ....heck yeah....stayed deep and bulldogged the whole way ....We (and I'm sure many of you have also) have caught several "big" cats while winter fishing at Fork.....that's what I thought I had gotten into.....we were in open water, 30 ft or so, so we just wanted to play it down and get a look at whatever it was....I was as surprised as anyone when the big girl finally rolled to the top.....John stayed on the TM and kept up as she made several runs....I just held on , giving line whenever she pulled drag....John's scale read 15.01.....so we headed in....a somewhat slower day of crappie fishing really took a turn for the better!
Bobby and Tracey at Oak Ridge Marina....I "thank you" for all your help....contacting TPW , taking extra care of the fish, and waiting patiently for them to arrive....I've been fortunate to fish with a lot of very good fishermen through the years.... To you, I say "thank you " for sharing your knowledge....John....man what a day! Thanks for the invite!
She will be returned to Fork to be released....I hope one of you have the chance to catch her!!

There are career bass fishermen up north who've never caught two largemouth whose weight added up to 15.02. That's an insane fish.
