What do yall use and where do yall get it? I am really looking for an economical solution and would rather do something DIY opposed to buying an actual fiberglass stick used for this in a store. Only issue is where to find the materials long enough. I read some previous posts from back in 2010 and people were picking up 10' conduit with a 3' thread extension. The problem is my boat has sides that flare up real high and I want it to be able to extend above the gunwale. I believe Brent mentioned some place in Wylie for pipe at like $18 for 16 feet of it or something along those lines. Not sure where to buy gas pipe, fiberglass, or any pipe for that matter that long. Craigslist so far hasnt produced. Thanks In Advance

I use 10' 3/4 galvanized pipe. The black gas pipe rusts and gets nasty. You can get em at lowed or home depot as well as the fittings and short pieces to.make an extension.

I like 3/4" solid alum rod. Held my big boat in 20-30 mph wind in the right mud.

I use 3/4 inch sucker rod come in 23-25 foot sections just cut it in half, have not bought any in awhile but you can get a joint of it for under 20.00 easy at a metal supply. 5/8 inch will also work. I covered mine with a heavy duty water hose so it does not bang up the boat.

I think I might try to get some 6' sections and use a connector. That way it will fit in the rod box. Anyone have any ideas for brackets?

All good ideas. I just dont know where to buy any of it? I think anything at Lowes and Home Depot that is 10' with even a 3' extension will not be long enough with my flare up sides on the boat.
