Im looking to install a manual jackplate on my boat. Has a f150 with hydralic steering. Is there something that im missing on a jackplate install? Looks pretty simple. Suspend outboard and pull away from transom enough to mount plate then attach outboard to jack. Is there gonna be a huge difference in performance if motor is kept at same height?

What kind of boat and motor do you have? I doubt you will see a "huge" difference in performance regardless of what you do, but you should see some increase and some improvement in handling.

Fiberglass Center console with yamaha f150 four stroke. Reason for jackplate is just to be able to mount a talon or 2 on the back. So i really dont care about Performance improvements even though it would be a plus . Was wondering if im missing a big deal like shift cable lengths or whatever. It looks like they should be long enough. Or will i see a big enough difference i need to send my prop back to steve. Guess every install is different and i will see just curious for some feedback. Never had a jackplate and really dont plan on messing with it once it is set.

you don't have to put a plate on to mount a talon.
we have a 6" setback "sammich" plate in stock if your interested.
a plate is always a good idea.

Thanks steve but i need to be able to remove the whole assembly 4-5 times a year. Plate and talon. Seems a plate mount is the best way to do this. You sell any manual plates or recommened one? Was thinking bobs plate would be just as good as any.

for side mounting a talon. i'd go with the slidemaster. they make a good side mount for it.
they hydro dynamics plates are what i sell, and they are a pain to get a side mount to put on.

Yes, definitely a slidemaster if that is your main reason. PowerPole makes a plate that bolts into the side, so you never have to mess with motor or jackplate.
