I am looking at the 704 and or the 734 Champion series Dobyns for throwing 1/4-3/8 trig plastics and was wondering what rod would be best for this application. Any input would be great and I am not set on those two models

I use the 704 with 3/8 weight and baby brush hog and it works great.
734 would be a little better for taking up slack on hooksets.

Never picked up either of those but I have a 764 and three 763's, and I prefer the 763 for plastics. It has a lot of tip action but good backbone. In fact, I throw 1/2-oz to 1.25-oz spoons as well as up to 3/4-oz football jigs on it. The 764 has a stiff tip and for me is better suited for 1-oz jigs, C-rigs, and 1.5-oz spoons.
I also have the 804 C-rig rod and it is great for that and for small swimbaits. I just like long rods.

734 is what I use, and I love it.

Guess I'm the only one who uses a 703. Feels like the perfect 3/16 oz T-rig rod to me.

Thanks for all the info! It looks like the 734 is the way to go.

I like the 734 as well, but I also have the 743Extreme which I feel is much better. Granted, I use it more for senkos and such, but I love that rod.
