Hey gang,

I'm heading to corpus to spend the night on the U.S.S. Lexington with my sons boy scout troop. Hoping to get some fishing in while I'm there has anything been hot down there? Not familiar with the area but I'd love to get on some flounder, reds and trout while im there.

Thanks all,

May try Indian Point Pier just north of there in Portland.

The back bay (Nueces Bay) just west of the causeway is ripe with big specks right now and the flounder and drum are still running hard at the Packery Channel. Try Red Dot Pier and bank fishing along the JFK Causeway/Padre Island. It was HOT last couple of weeks but haven't been out there since. We're supposed to get around freezing inland so it's cold through about next Thursday. Don't know how it'll affect the drum and flounder run so good luck and welcome to Corpus!

There is a jetty right next to the lexington that has been producing reds nad sheepshead during the day time warm hours. Yo can also get some trout during the dooler evening hours. The jetty is right behind the restaurant by the Lex entrance, it is free, but not lighted, so bring a latern.

Also, there may be some flounder in the shallows betweent the jetty an lex. I would use a Gulp in glow or of any really obnoxious color to get them biting.

If you get this in time, Alex, try Oso Bay going out towards Texas A&M CC. I always get over that way when I'm in town!

Just got back. I went and saw but definitely didn't fish. After all day searching the bowels of the ship while being teathered to an 8 year old and sleeping in a vintage berthing unit the group was pretty done this a.m. So we simply headed back early.

I did see several people fishing, saw small bait fish popping the top and a guy waded the whole interior side of the ship and pier, I never saw him catch anything. The only thing I saw get caught was a small hard head or dog fish. I couldn't exactly tell from the ship. But I tried lol. popcorn

Conditions were foggy and cool, low wind made this a great time to be on the water. Next time maybe ill get to fish.

Tight lines!!!!

Sorry your trip didn't include any fishing...some families just don't understand us.
