some say there are no regulations for fishing on private ponds in texas. if true,
can one take small bait fish from the pond and use them as live or cut bait on a regular lake?
how about using game fish waste parts such as heads from legal caught fish on regular lakes and using the parts as bait on ponds?
could one take catfish on a private pond by bowfishing?

Think it would apply to all bodies of water. Logic is that it is not legal to shoot a deer on private property when it is not deer season. Why wouldn't the same rules apply for fishing? If you had fish in possession how could you prove otherwise?

you can obviously do what you want on private property. im sure you could get away with it as long as you dont advertise what your doing but its too late for that. i dont understand why this would even be posted

There is no law that regulates what you do to the fish in your pond on your property; up to a point. To legally stock grass carp you will usually have to build an excluder to keep them from escaping.
I'm not aware of any law that would keep you from using your fish as bait. However, if a lake prohibits the use of any type of baitfish, you wouldn't be able to use them even if they are your own.

could one take catfish on a private pond by bowfishing? Yes, as long as they're not otherwise prohibited (e.g. exotics and such) or game fish. Suppose that would be legal, ask your GW. Yup. My understanding is that fishing regulations do not apply to private waters (no license, take what you want how you want).
No fish is too good for the grease.

I'd say that private waters have thier own sets of regulations and means/methods of enforcement. With the exceptions of regulations about some things, like prohibited species, the state regulations with respect to harvest do not apply to most private waters.
As long as any bait fish you take from your pond is a legal species for that use, you can use it for bait in public waters according to the regulations of those waters.
If you want to fish cut bait of any kind in your own pond, and that bait was legally obtained, I see no legal problem doing so. Even if you are using a bass head left over from cleaning some legally caught fish to do so. Although that is a good question for one of my TP&WD legal dept. buddies I'll see next week....taking note.
If the fish in your pond are your fish, catfish or otherwise, you can catch them however you please. Well, not sure if dynamiting would be legal, and some folks use methods and poisons that would'nt be legal in private or pulbic waters...
I do know you can surely shoot with an arrow or bullet, or gig or spear, or catch with a seine net longer than 20' or gill net or trap, fish shocker, drain the pond, rotenone, etc. on your own property or private property you've permission from the owner to do so.
But to say there are no regulations would not be truu.

private waters you can do what you want not regulated at all. You have to check with the lake you are going to as far as bringing bait fish in.

TO MY KNOWLEDGE ALL GAME AND FISH LAWS APPLY IN PUBLIC AND PRIVATE WATERS.
