hit the river today a little/alot later then i wanted to but saw nobody catch anything. an no feed back from anyone because they didnt catch anything either ? i casted everything out there an took all advice to the water..... i think it was just a bad day 
everyday is a learning experience ....... if your not learning why try ?

Trout can be finicky. I've seen them rise to a fly and turn away. I've seen them chase a spinner and turn away. I've seen my lure bump into them and get ignored.

talked to a few friends today who went out yesterday, an it was all the same report..... maybe it was just a bad day for us lol. thinking about Purina nymphs ??... maybe a Purina dry flies ????... San Juan Purinas ??? ..... kinda just thinking about some ideas to take to the bench as a last resort fly ...... or a go to fly lol

Too Funny,
Dont get discurraged alot of my first trips went exactly like yours. I realized I was always too close to the release date. Now I like to back off it a bit and hit the water in the middle of the week when there is less pressure.

A couple years ago after fishing for half the day and trying several different flies without any hits I found the right one and caught a limit in half an hour. It was a #12 Copper John fished under a strike indicator. Of course the little piece of Berkely Trout Nibble placed on the hook may have had something to do with it too.

It really matters which river you are speaking of. After a few days the trout will key into the natural insect life, which can be as small as a size @24 on waters like the Guadalupe below Canyon
