I normally start fishing for them in the rivers (Colorado and Lampasas Rivers) the last week of January but I am itching bad so I am gonna go check out the Lampasas river just up from Stillhouse sometime this week.

Well I'm no expert but I'd never heard of them starting this early. But if they're biting then it's on!

Yeah I doubt they have started yet. I would actually be shocked to catch them good in December in the river.

But I will have fun either way.

there have been some "false runs" on the Brazos, but they're difficult to predict...

Brother in law was on the Brazos last weekend. All he got into were some catfish on clousers.

Too early, with very low river flows due to lack of rain. The earliest I've ever heard of are in the Sabine River, above Toledo Bend...starting in late December. I do hear the crappie are strong in Denton Creek, which is upper Grapevine. The white bass run in Denton Creek may be in trouble if Grapevine drops anymore..as the Creek will be cut off from the Lake... :-(

A good flood can really get things going and we need one soon or it won't happen at all on the Yegua!
