I fish alot of blow downs and stups in 1-8 ft. of water. What jig or jigs and color do you like in lightly stained water? I have only had good success w/the grn.pumpkin perch colored jigs. powdr

I use Omega 5/16 in watermelon red and caught a few off this bait but my go to jig for shallow water would be the black/blue War Eagle jig.

Tight Lines!

I have been using a 3/4 oz lately because it is all that has been working for me, I can put on a 1/4 oz or or even a 3/8 to a half but not getting near the bites and size as I do with a big jig and a big trailer

3/8 or 1/2 Viper Xp jig--black blue tip. Hyper freak trailer
or Purple passion, junebug, or bama bug trailer
3/8-3/4 Santone jig Slopy Joe--Xcite raptor Jr Molten craw
Peanut butter N Jelly--green pumpkin/purple trailer, or cinnamon/purple.
Bass Candy--green pumpkin/purple trailer or g/p candy.

Sometimes a Sapphire blue trailer works well.

My rule is to get by with the slowest rate of fall I can get and still have good contact with the jig...I only would go for a 3/4 jig in shallow water if the winds was really kicking!

With that said some days they wont that jig smoking by them on a quick fall before they will eat it...Its really something your gonna have to play with depending on the weather...I mainly stick with 3/8 to 1/2 on windy days in shallow water.

No reason to go with anything heavier than a 1/2 oz unless you are either punching a mat or dragging/hopping the bottom. Most of the time a 3/8 oz will be sufficient. Good Luck!

I really like these in green pumpkin/blue rigged with a baby brush hog:

Like a shaky head/finesse jig hybrid, just wish the skirts were hand tied.
