Having only been in Texas for a few months I couldn't wait to get a chance to fish Fork so a few weeks back I booked a guide and a room at Lake Fork Lodge for this past weekend. My wife and I left our house early Friday afternoon with plans to get to the hotel and relax before our Saturday guided trip. About an hour and half into our trip I seen something go flying from the side of the boat and as I was wondering if I just ran over something, I noticed my tired shaking in a "not normal" fashion. I pulled over on the side of HWY 380 and seen that the bearing buddy had disappeared and grease was all over the rim. By now it's 4:00 p.m. on a Friday afternoon. After a quick search through my phone I found a number to "Big Daddy's Boat Repair" and gave John a call. He was trying to think of anything to help me out but I was still about 30 miles from Denton. John said if I could get it to him he would work on it Saturday morning and get me up and running as quick as he could. After 4 hours on the side of the highway the flatbed finally showed up and towed the boat to John. I contacted Ron Casner and updated him on the situation and thought I would have to postpone. But Ron said we'd work it out and to call on Saturday when the work was done. John worked his magic and replaced the bearings on both sides, cut me a deal, and had me back on the road around noon.
Called Ron on the way there and we had decided that we would spilt the trip into two half days and as soon as I arrived at Lake Fork Lodge Ron was there waiting for us and quickly got us on the water. Between Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning we caught a few fish but the big ones were not cooperating. I have to say that Ron was truly working hard to get us on some sizable fish but it just wasn't meant to be that weekend. I did learn a lot and had a great time on the water laughing and joking with Ron. He and I are going to hit the water again soon and hopefully find the ones we're looking for.
Although it started as a rough weekend I have to thank John at Big Daddy's for going above and beyond to help me out and get me to the lake; Ron for being flexible and making the most out of everything and still giving me a good weekend. If anyone is looking for a guide I definitely recommend Ron; and lastly Kyle and Debbie for their great hospitality at their wonderful Lodge where my wife and I can't wait to come back and stay!

High on my list of reasons that I love Fork so much are the people in that community. So many good people that are guides and local business owners. Kyle has always been awesome to us. Great story.
