During the heat of the summer, my wife and I like to go out and fish with the submersible green lights at night. Its relaxing and quiet and "cooler" than the day. Has anyone ever anchored up on the edge of a hump or point and fished for whites and hybrids with either live bait or soft plastics or whatever at night and is it "normally" productive or just wasting my time. I would think that if the lights brought in the shad on a hump, then the whites would follow but so would the catfish which is not what I am after. Like to know your thoughts on it because I am looking to buy some more submersible green lights for next summer. Thanks in advance.

My father and I used to do that lots of times with large minnows at the old Preston Camp on Texhoma, we caught lots of fish bach then, it has lots of good memories for me there.

We fish under the 287 bridge on RC and have done pretty well most every time on sandies. I tried Tawakoni last year with mixed results. We caught quite a few sandies and a few hybrids the first couple of times. The last time we didn't do as well but still caught a decent mess of sandies. There were always a few catfish mixed in as well but we would fish cut bait for them away from the lights. I don't remember catching very many in the lights at all. This year I have some better ares marked on my GPS that I plan on trying.

Since I installed the light strips, I have only fished a few nights. They do pull the bait in, and like Mix stated above, I flat wore the sandies out under the lights, but just a few hybrids. But, like i said i only fished at night maybe 4 times total.

I fish night plenty of time with my wife also but never used a green light and always had good luck... just drifting shad and bouncing glow in the dark sassys off the bottom...

I will add that most if not all of the hybrids I caught were within the first 30 minutes or so of pulling up to a new spot and putting the lights out. Some I caught before I put the lights out. I'm going to try without the lights some this summer and see what happens. I know they feed under lighted docks but wonder if a light in the middle of nowhere when there usually isn't anything there spooks them a little? Or maybe I just need better/more lively baits after the bait gets thick?

Got me pumped to go this next summer. I will have two big green submersibles and 1 white led hanging off the boat to see the lines. Can't wait to give it a try now. Thanks everyone.....

I run night trips on Hubbard in the summer but never have in the winter. I bet they still bite though.

I'm assuming that sweetwater stripers feed the same as saltwater stripers and saltwater stripers looooove being caught at night!

I love night fishing during the spring and summer. I Fish RC and Twok. It is a blast. I have tried it during the winter at texoma under my lights w mixed results. What I have found to be better is to go to marinas w deeper water and throw flukes or sassys at the lighted boathouses. FUN!!

I'll equate this to fishing the bridges that span the tidal creeks and rivers in the northeast. They're very similar. They're both lighted, which draws bait and they have shadows, which stripers love to hide in to ambush bait.
