My friends are determined to catch flounders at Galveston right before the Christmas holiday, but worried that the cold front would drive flounders out by the time. Any suggestion? Boat fishing? Gigging? Wade fishing? What are the options that will certainly make them catch flounders in late december?

Even though there are some nice flounder starting to move personally I don't think they have really gotten started yet. There are still big pods of mullet holding in the back areas of the bay up in the grass and until they get flushed out there is no reason for the flounder to make their move out into the Gulf yet. Of course, if we have a couple of "blue northers" blast through and pull all the water and bait out of the marshes that might change....but we were catching/gigging flounder all winter long last year and i don't see that pattern changing in the near future around here as well.
...so good it tastes like it died screaming!

What a relief to hear the flounders still available in late december. Is gigging any more effective than fishing in december? I've never been to the galveston area and new to gigging. If gigging, then boat gigging any better than wade gigging? I assume the galveston water getting too cold for wading?

You can cover a heck of a lot more ground and you can cover a lot more ground in a shorter period of time. Most of the places I gig you can't get to wading in as well.

Can you gig from kayak? Maybe if you modify your kayak for the underwater lighting?
