I have been kicking this idea around for a while and want to see if anyone is interested. I have been thinking about a Monday night casting practice in Dallas. I was thinking at White Rock Lake and in the early evening say 6ish. is anyone interested in something like this?

Eric, do you have lights available where you're planning to cast? It's starting to get kinda dark around 6:00 these days.

Seen some sketchy stuff after dark at WR, keep w a buddy or at least beware of surroundings and don't let anyone get close.
Being said, fly fishing can be great on that lake. Clousers, bead heads, and poppers are the ticket.
Had days catching channels, LM, sandies, crappie, and all types of gills on the same fly on the same area.
Still waiting to get flathead on the fly.
Anyway I wouldn't mind meeting some locals that fish the lake, so post if something gets set up.
Don't worry about the mule, just load the cart

The creeks are fun and the scenery is great in the day with all the entertainment running around I'd be interested

I was thinking at Dreyfus Point but I don't remember to well about the lighting story there. I will definitely find some area with lights for right now though.
I will keep you all up to date on any plans. I am out of town until Friday but once I am back will move forward on getting something together.

I am going to start getting out there this coming Monday night. I will scout a lit area and post later today or tomorrow. This is merely for casting practice. You would need a rod, decent leader for practice ~7 1/2 feet and maybe some yarn for a fly. I ride my bike at the lake at night often and I don't feel there is anything to worry about. If you are concerned for your own safety I totally understand. Hopefully this will continue and we will get to some spring practice where light is not a concern.

Alright, did some scouting in the dark last night and the 2 easiest locations to find with decent lighting are the Bath House and Flagpole Hill. Think that Flagpole Hill will be the better location right now. I will bump the time up to 5-5:15PM start time tomorrow. I hope some of you guys can make it out. Wondering if this would be good for a weekly event or maybe every other week?

Well it seems the weather kinda got us on this one. Good thing is I really like that spot as it has good parking, some lighting and open areas all around for casting. All those things being said I am gonna be there again next Monday and hope that some of you come join me. PM for any info on this you may need. THX

Ready to try this again? I am gonna be at Flagpole Hill parking lot, by the flagpole itself, Monday about 5PM. The weather looks like it will be a little nicer this time. Come on out and join me for a little casting practice. If you are like most of us getting away to fish right now is very difficult at best, this is a good way to keep your casting in shape so when you hit the water you are ready!
