My friend has a boat slip at Caption Cove on Hubbard and would like to know what all we need to do to bait it and get it ready for crappie? If I'm right the depth is 5-7ft were his boats at.
Any advice???

Cedar trees and willows are the best but Christmas trees work great also.Make sure the trees have not been treated with chemicals. It will keep bait fish from moving in.

First you enclose it, install a heater, a freezer, a beer tap, a pole for the dancing girls....oh wait, you meant for the crappie?

with that little of water I'd break out all the tricks; get a submersible fishing light on a timer. You can buy a good one for 130 or build one of your own for about 50.

What will the light do?? I'm still learning all this on baiting. light attracts baitfish which attracts crappie which attracts men of all ages calling in to work sick (cough, cough).

all kidding aside ...the water depth could be deeper , but if you put in some brush ....i think natural works best .... and then run a light every night ....the crappie will come in after dark an hour or 2 and feed on the bait under the light ... someone told me they will come in waves and that i know to be true from night ketchn before ..... on nights you fish toss some "food" for the baitfish in .... a sack with some sort of powdered grain products in it will help draw and hold the bait ..... luck to you

Yea, need more water in the lakes and Christmas Trees. Four more weeks and you'll have all the free christmas trees you can handle.
