Well my wife wants a kayak and that's going to put a damper on getting a Hobie! BOOOOO Oh well what mama wants mama gets!

Anyways i like the Jackson kayaks and have been considering a cuda. But im a big guy and the weight capacity is not as high as some other boats. I wondering how the boat handles with a big guy on it? Id probably go with the 14 if i go this route. I dont carry loads of gear unless im camping and then i carry more than i need. Its possible that id pass the 400lb capacity when camping.

Im not really interested in the big tuna so id rather not go that route. Any big guy paddled this boat?

How Big Are ya? I think I met you at the Minerals Wells Tourney. You didn't appear bigger than some of my friends who have used mine.

I have a good friend that likes my cuda 12, he also has a hobie PA, Mariner Propel, and some sinks which he loves too. He is 250 to 260 at 6'-1".

Now if your gonna load it out for camping I can't really comment, from a weight factor. There is lots of storage in both.

I remember seeing you there also. You will not have any issues with your weight in the Cuda 14, and with what gear you can get into the Cuda 14 youre not going to have any issues. If your plan is to do allot of camping I would say the Tuna is a better choice by far. In comparing the Cuda to the Tuna for camping, the Cuda you can pack most of your stuff below deck, and the Tuna youre going to carry most of your stuff on deck and your able to carry much more along with another person.
You should have said something to me I would have been more than glad to let you try out the cuda 14.

I had a guy demo a Cuda 14 a few weeks ago who was close to 300 lbs and about 6'3" and he liked it, and even did a side entry in the water.

Thanks guys if i would have thought about it i would have asked. Maybe next time. But thanks for all the info. If we go with a cuda ill probably just buy a 14 for my self and a 12 for my wife. I was showing them to her the other night and she fell in love.

I've been thinking about selling my custom (all black) 2012 14' with rudder. This was the yak that I fished tournaments and guided from so it has some oyster/drag rash, but I plan on factoring that into the price. If cosmetics aren't an issue, I may have one for you.

It's only been a thought so I haven't taken pictures or come up with a price. I will though if anyone's interested. PM me if so and I'll post an ad with pics and price.

Im 6'6 325 when i started paddling i was up to 350. I paddled cudadudes cuda no problem. I went with the tuna but have been thinking about getting a cuda and Im totally comfortable putting camping gear and all my fishing gear in the cuda. Id even be comfortable standing and fishing in it with all that gear.

No problem bubba. You can talk to one of the KI star team guys about getting a demo and buying one if you so decide.

325lbs is no problem for the Cuda to handle. Putting 400lbs in it would be pushing it though, especially if you camped on a regular basis. You should test paddle a Big Tuna if you haven't already. It really paddles quite nicely as a solo, especially compared to the other tandem yaks currently on the market. Will you win any races? No, but you'll be darn comfortable well past the 400lb mark.
