We never fish for cats in winter. We usually do it around spawning time when they are going at it hard, then once that is over so are we. Why do y'all fish in the winter? And is it any better than the summer? I'm talking about limb lines and trot lines. Not fishing poles.

An onion can make people cry but theres never been a vegetable that can make people laugh.

If you get thrown from a horse, you have to get up and get back on, unless you landed on a cactus; then you have to roll around and scream in pain.

Sorry don't get it done dude

Jug fishing is very effective in winter and trotlines can be as well if set in the proper location.

Go watch some of those boys at Texoma jug fishing in the dead of winter and then come back and tell me it's no good.

You are missing a lot if you are not fishing the winter season. Jug fishing on Arrowhead is deadly in the winter- but so is rod-n-reel fishing. You need to give it a try.

We usually run jugs around christmas when the family comes to the lake... We catch a lot of cats..

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

I river fish a lot, and have always caught my best fish in Nov and Dec.

One year we had throw lines out and had a 65# blue on the top hook and a 65# flat head on the 2nd hook ...... yep, it was fun, they had the willow tree we tied to pulled completely under water!

Wow, sounds fun. Is it really worth getting wet and cold though? That looks scary, I can stand heat great but the cold hurts.

Invest in some gnarly cold weather gear. If it wasn't worth it none of us would mess with it. 10x's as much fun when you do it with rod and reel.

Wow, thanks guys. I just never figured fish would wanna move that much during winter. Ok, here is a question few will probly answer. What bait do I use? I'll start off by saying we use perch for bait in summer, but what about y'all?
