Snakes are cold blooded. They are not going to be swimming in cold water. Their body would shut down to a point that they would drown. They will be hunkered down under a fallen tree on land to stay warm.

Whether it is summer or winter, you are still more likely to be struck by lightning than to have a snake crawl inside your boat at night. They don't have thumbs, so they can't reach up and grab the rail of the boat to pull themselves in.

Better safe than sorry. I had a swimming rattlesnake try to catch a ride in my boat once. I used my fishing rod to get it away from the boat long enough to power up and move. After that I quit taking naps on the back of the boat.

Had a cotton mouth chase me on a paddle boat one night, only day I didn't bring my pistol on our lake. Broken back with a paddle and that ended his night, we went in though, to hell with that, put on the screens.

I thought that too, but last winter I pulled up one of my honey hole Christmas trees in my boat house, 55 degree water and there was a 5 foot Texas Rat Snake wrapped up in it as spunky as he could be. He might have been on my dock and when I went in he slipped into the water.

Where I'm at the Snakes are still very active in the water.

The whole moccasin thing is overrated. Most aren't even moccasins and they very rarely enter a boat as long as you aren't going under overhanging tree limbs. They might approach and if you've got a stringer of fish, they might take a snack, but I've spent countless nights on the water in a smaller boat that yours and never had any issues, even in really grown up backwater areas. Mosquitoes is another question altogether.

Neither have I, but after a fishing & camping trip to Lake Ouachita in Arkansas, I don't leave my boat on the bank overnight... My wife and I camped with our neighbors who also bass fished.... We all jumped up the next morning, threw on our clothes and raced to the our boats that had been parked on the shore overnight and were racing down the lake to get to a favorite fishing hole.... Looked over and my Buddy was standing up in his seat holding on to the steering wheel while his wife had climbed up on the chair in the back deck... a snake had crawled out from under the console ... and there they were doing 50 or 60 mph down the lake with a snake in the bottom of the boat... pretty funny after it was all over....

the armadilla....

Odds of a snake getting in the boat are slim to none, but if your worried about it put moth balls in the boat and they will stay away.

Zero percent chance, right now it is to cole for bugs or snakes and even if it was warm you would only have bugs to worry about.
