I've been fishing DD(tx side) about once a month for the past few months and have never had any luck. Primarily throw a sassy shad, spinners, rattletraps, and topwaters (spooks, torpedoes , shallow divers). I usually fish the Rocky area just below the dam around 6am to Noon. NEVER had any luck......and tips or suggestions?
I've never caught a striper, so really want to get one.
Thanks guys.

Dont fish there anymore !
(also fish a tiny white roadrunner on ultra thin line, reel super fast, you might catch a dink )

The ONLY reason to fish with a fly rod in Texas is to throw a POPPER, casting any other type fly just means you're doing something.

Keep fishing guys the fish are there it takes time, it's getting harder to catch big fish but they are there and they can be caught. We need a big rainy year with lots of running water to move some new fish up stream. Don't get stuck fishing one area move up and down stream on both sides throw baits you wouldn't normally.

Friday should be a good day. Just go to Seawolf Park, park your car outside of the Park, walk to your right side or left side, depending on the wind. Wade in the water, using a 6" or 7" rod, look and see who's catching flounders, and try the same area where flounders are caught. Casting your lure out, working it slowly, bouncing at bottom. Flounder bites are very lite: just one bump, don't set your hook right way, wait few seconds before setting the hook. You can go to BassPro or Cabela's to buy Gulp shrimp: 3", glow/chartreuse color, or Gulp 4" swimming mullet: pink or chartreuse color. That's all the color you need. I am going again with Han on Dec. 3 and 4, Monday and Tuesday. Good luck to you. If you can go with us, you are guaranty to catch some flounders. We have our own secret big mama spot. haha. That's what everyone says but i never had any luck with flounder... Now, i must get your killer lures for them then. I hope you still have some lures for me.

Lol all this flounder stuff is funny. but seriously, im not the brightest guy but i assume they wont open the dam if the lake is low. am i right? I also assume that the fishing is better from spillway when they are releasing water. Sounds stupid but its a serious question.

Fishing is fishing man. those who are killing the flouders are also the ones who posted the pictures of big stripers in this thread and help out the people. Put it this way, when u see something other than stripers, that's a clue to you right there. Thanks Moon!!! i wish i can join you. i could if u go on friday . Would this be your last trip for the year? Thanks for the tip. i'll have my report back if i go.

Flounder are hot and heavy everywhere you go right now. Don't need a special spot to catch big ones unless you just want to get away from the crowds. Not worth the trouble when the limit is only 2. Starting this weekend though it should be on fire. Caught this one last weekend at SWP. Kept my two, both were over 23"s. This one weighed over 7lbs on my gorilla scale Stiper are also hitting at the dam at night. Fish on the TX side where there is water lol. Caught this one 2 weeks ago, and about 30 more fish. 2 biggest were over 30"s
Women love me, fish fear me, now beer me.
