Its good quality gear. Its a better deal than the rod and reel alone. Those reels (not sure about the camo version if thats a big point here) go on sale for about $30 every 3 months or so. It is good deal if you have to have the camo, but the silver one is much cheaper when they put it on sale.
Edit: actually I just looked at it again. That rod it is one can be pricey as well. I think it is a great deal really. I have one of my 3 mettles on the same rod in some metalic blue color that the wife wanted and I think I paid $60 for the rod alone, its much nicer than the all-stars IMO.

It will handle what you are wanting to do. I do not know about flounder so the rod may be a little heavy for them, but trout and red it is what I would want for sure. Opinions vary here is another forum with many comments on the real, it seems it is well liked for the price point http://2coolfishing.com/ttmbforum/showthread.php?t=324968&page=3
Can someone explain how the Feds count recreational Red Snapper catch?

being an academy employee i feel as if I should put my .02 in. I know in the early days of H20 express, we had lots of customers brining back broken rods, whether that problem has been fixed or not I have no clue. I have heard mixed reviews... probably 70% of the people that have bought H20 reels say they are [censored]... the other 30% love them and say that they easily do the job of the expensive reels like the citica and curado.
just what ive heard. Hope that helps

That combo was on sale for $49.99 last Friday. Good rod and reel imo. Look for them to be on sale again closer to Christmas.

I have had the reel since Father's day take it with me almost every time I go out and it has worked flawlessly for me every time, great reel. Don't know about the rod though.

How would you spool the braid? Back it with mono? Or spool the braid direct tieing the braid through the wiffles(holes) on the spool?

Back it, either with mono or tape. The holes tend to cut line.

Looks a little whimpy for salt water. I would go with Abu Garcia 6000 series (Swedish made - no bcx stuff) or a 65 series spinning reel like the Cabelas Salt Striker.
$50 combos get expensive when you shred the gears.

Only one way to go in the Salt Shimano well worth the money spent.
