Look in the Operators Manual it shows that the Blue ICons and Orange Icons are from the different coverage areas of the 200KHz versus the 83 kHz so you know which cone angle the data came from.

Go to Full Simulator to enter GPS Data like this video shows: http://youtu.be/K2Jm9ef09xk

Humminbird can use up to 32GB SD Cards. I prefer the San Disk Extreme3 Cards for speed and performance.

Get the one that gives you the coverage you need. There are differences. I prefer LakeMaster when they have coverage for the accuracy, details and exclusive features to customize the map.

I have a quick question for all the pros here.

Currently I have a 788CI HD and was told that I could upgrade to a DI if I change the transducer. Is it true?

I would think the unit itself is the same, maybe the software is different?

Can anyone tell me before I buy a DI transducer. TIA.

False, a unit that is not Imaging capable cannot be "upgraded" to the imaging technology by adding hardware, software, or both.

Ok. That's what I figured. Thank you very much for the insight.

I am a newbie to the fishing world and need some advice about my sonar unit. I purchased a Humminbird 598 CI HD SI and have no clue on how to use it. I mostly fish for sand bass and catfish. Can anyone help me with some basline settings? I fish at Bob Sandlin, Palestine and Tawakoni mainly. Never had a trolling motor and bought an I-pilot. I think I have a grip on that though.

I have a 596c HD DI and a 598c HD SI...why is the down imaging on the 596 so much better quality than the 598 even though I have the settings exactly the same? It's seriously like a night and day comparison.

iPilot is not connectable to any unit. iPilot Link will only network with Ethernet Compatible Humminbird Units. 700Hd, 800, 908 Series, 1100 Series Units

500 Series are standalone only units and will not work with iPilot Link

596c HD DI is a dedicated DI Element. 598c HD SI creates DI Images from SI Elements. Different technology.

For iPilot Link users to utilize the "Follow the COntour" Feature of iPilot Link on theor Humminbird they will need the LakeMaster charts that are iPilot Link Compatible. If you look at the bow the iPilot Link Logo will be on the front and side.

Doug, is it available now? If not, do you know when?
Also, any word on the release date for iPilotLink and the GPS puck?

Thanks Doug! That brings me to my next questions. Is there a unit that has dedicated SI elements? I'd like a unit that has the best SI image possible. Also would I get the best of both worlds by having my 596 at the helm for DI and a 998 for SI? Would the transducers interfere with each other?

Is the Humminbird 898c HD Si worth the extra money over the Humminbird 898c SI? How much of a difference does the HD make?
