I know this has been visited, but I will be looking to book a guide trip on fork. Interested on when the best time to book would be. I am really looking for more of an education on the trip. I would like to learn how to use my electronics for more thatn just temp. and depth ( humminbird prefered since that is what I use), deep water structure fishing, and how to locate fish in general(pattern fishing I guess). I am in a club and do ok, but I would like to be much more consistant. Hoping a guide can help with that. Thanks

Best time to book is now, before their dates get picked over. I'm not sure who runs birds.

Cody malone is very good with his electronics over deep structure. I fished with him in August and i learned alot about fishing deeper water. I would think the best time to fish deep would be in late spring and summer if you want his number pm me.

depending on weather somewhere around memorial day can be awesome. you can catch them when the shad are spawning early, early in the am and it can be a 15 min's you'll never forget, sometimes longer, then when the sun gets up you can find em deep and there usually eating pretty good that time of year. you can get the best of both worlds and the most for your educational dollar that time of year, imo.

I'd look to get one immediately before they head into the coves for pre-spawn or wait til next summer, if you're wanting to learn electronics. Just my $.02

Any recommendations on who to use? I will give James a call, but was hoping to use someone with a HB so I would be learning on the same setup.

Try Roy Greer, He has 2 SAL under his belt. You bring your boat and he will teach you how to use it to locate deep bass, that is his forte. Very reasonable also, I think like 150 for a full day trip in your boat. He also has a boat put it is higher price. Here is his link http://www.thebassclinic.com/

If you want to learn to use your electronics then you need to book a summertime or early fall trip when the fish are out deep. No need to book a spring trip when the fish are shallow.

Yes I am running the 1198 on my Ranger. I ran the Lowrances for years and they are great units. But I really like these new hummnbird units better. If you need some help with yours give me a ring.
