Check out my "How to use a Slab". It's loaded with great information that not only covers every season, various techniques, but also targeted information for the guy targeting hybrids and stripers.

I also have a write up on "How to use a sassy shad/Rum Runner"

This should provide with you tons of great information. Let me know if you have any further questions and I'd be happy to talk with you.

My advise would be to find a few guys & go out with a striper guide. Good ones like Matt AKA "Lakeguide" will answer your questions & give you solid advise.

Review the posts with regard to sonar,si and down imaging to get some ideas what ur looking for, the bait(s) of choice are all over this section for this time of year. You are going to have to get out and try it on your own or hire a guide. There are some great guides posting on this section, they are the real deal.

Find the humps on your lake... Then find the shad....

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

You don't fish for strippers you troll through em with shiny objects

I'm glad someone replied to my little joke. I was beginning to think my sillyness ran everyone off. Oh and BTW trolling with large green bills with 100 on them works too.

I am deficient when it comes to slabbing. I have dropped a slab into this and did exactly as you described and didn't catch anything.
