There's a small creek that runs through this park, but I don't know if it is just run off, etc. Does anyone know if Grapevine Springs in Coppell is any good for fishing? I wouldn't imagine it would have any large fish, but sunfish might be a possibility.

I used to live in Coppell and didn't know what you were talking about so I googled it and realized it was one of the 4 places that I fished last Saturday morning. I caught a few bluegill and largemouth bass in the narrow shallow creek using a small marabou jig. I was using chartruse but the water is pretty clear so I suggest using brown jigs that look more like crawdads.

Good to know. I've been going to that park since I was a kid, and for some reason even though I've hiked all over it I've never tried to fish it. I'm going to have to go out there and see what I can catch. I'm excited.

So here's my report. My trip to Grapevine Springs this weekend was a debacle. Think the keystone cops go fishing. I caught nothing and couldn't find a good spot to fish. Trying to find a spot I got tangled in branches of thorns and managed to get my rod caught in a briar tangle. When I got loose I hooked my sweater (the only thing I caught) and had to spend time trying to get the booger out. I'm sure there are spots to fish, but I didn't find them. It would have been annoying if it hadn't been so slapstick comical. smile

I feel for you. I've hung up on limbs and tried to go in to get the lure untangled and it just gets worse. Probably ought to cut the line and lay the rod in the bottom of the boat before I/you go close to the limbs to retrieve the lure/jig/hook. Good luck on your next trip.

CreekRat,
we need to meet up sometime- I fish smallish creeks in Tarrant county and can show you some areas which are productive and relatively easy to fish.
