In Lou of the "Banking ediquette" topic; I was wondering if there is special ediquette when it comes to boat fishing. How close is too close? Should you even fish the same area? etc.

If I can cast half way to you then you are too close.

I know this may sound like a stupid question but: what if you know they are vertically jigging on brush, should you ask if it would be ok get get (reasonably) close?

I ask this because most times people feel cornered when someone poses such question and may say yes when they actually don't want you to. What do you think? Should you just find some other place all together?

Its really preference I think. In a boat i dont really care unless you drop your line right next to mine or come flying by 20ft away. On land I have a real problem with people invading my personal space, not just for fishing, but people who come up to you and start talking to you and they stand like a foot from you. Makes me instantly not like someone lol

I always respected bank fishermen when I'm in the boat. I slow down and give them plenty of room. Bank fishermen have limited space or water to fish.

I've had people get pissed off at me when I stopped and fished 75 yrds in front of them. They sped by me and pulled back in about 20 yrds from where I was. Never understood that [censored] move as I felt I was very clear of their area.

If its a pile I put out, I'm gonna fish it. If it's one I found, I go to the next one.

Try walleye fishing in Minnesota when the bite is on, bumper to bumper. No one gets pizzed..... just part of the deal. It is different down here, seems everyone needs so much room, and I respect that.

Plus, IMO, If you aint drinking, you aint mowing.

When the fish no bitting, welcome to come as close as possible to my boat and have a talk. But When you saw me pull out 5 slabs from one location and hop over, I will call police, because I feel been robed.
