I first started posting on the BFHP about 8-9 years ago. At the time, I posted as BassHunter. There was a lot of controversy about posters who didn't post an email addy to your profile. If you didn't, they considered you a troll, and not to be taken seriously. Before they started registering handles, someone else from Alabama used the same handle. I considered emailing them, then realized how funny it would seem to email someone saying "I had that name first". Plus, if they didn't change it, what really could I do?

So, I started posting under my real name, in an effort to give my posts credibility and for people to realize I type what I mean. You're not likely to troll, if everyone knows who you are. Sure, it's caused me some embarrassment when I've jumped the gun and got angry at things, but I try to "think before I type" these days. smile smile

OK...Goat Farmer...You're next!!!

Well, I'll go. With the exception of the last 2 1/2 weeks, I normally most of my free time fishing Lake Athens. So goes the name....

Now my wife could change that handle pretty quick smile .

I tried to use some of my favorite lures as a screen name when I registered, no luck, all taken. Wanting to get right to it, i typed in the name I have always gone by in my forty years, Michael Ryan, no luck, already taken.
So I tried my full legal name, and that worked.
I decided thats ok, I have lost touch with some good fishing friends through job transfers and moves, so if using my name ever reunites me with some old friends, that would be great, if not, i dont have anything to hide.At least I dont think I do.

Mine is an old High School nickname, some buddies and I were driving somewhere and we were trying to think of cool names for a band. One guy suggested the name "Big Leslie" out of nowhere, another one said you know, that's a better name for Ron and they started calling me that...I don't get to see those guys much anymore so I picked that as my handle just because it brings back mostly good memories.

OK Kelly, copied from that other topic:

The name Goat Farmer came from the band that I'm in. We've been playin' for 11 years and in 1999 we started practicing in a double wide trailer sitting right smack in the middle of a feild full of goats. We played there until earlier this year. We called it the Goat Farm and had lots of fun there (no not with the goats) and kept Anheiser Busch in business. We've made songs about it, released our first album from recordings made there and our band's Internet Forum is even named The Goat Farm, so that's where it came from.

To add to that, none of us use our real names in our band, mine is Jack . Obviously I can't use that on most forums, so I picked Goat Farmer.

I think it's cool having made up names, it makes it interesting once you finally meet someone from the TFF, it's usually something like "who's goat farmer? OHHHH, you're Goat Farmer!!" it's pretty funny and sometimes confusing keeping up with who is REALLY who!

I'm a techno caveman that recently converted to computerdom. A computer guru/geek advised that I should use an alias when setting up e-mails (so the UFO people don't know who I am - I thought that's what the tinfoil was for??) So, I used an alais. As the cops say aka = Also Known As:

By the way, bug zappers work just as good as the tinfoil thing. laugh

Kelly: I started off using my name and my friend gave me a hard time so I change handle to my nickname.

Well back to the topic, my handle was a nickname given to me in the midst of a drunken stuper and so as not to offend any Budist's by spelling it Buddha I just put my own twist on it with the simple spelling and 13 was my # back in the day when I played baseball. There sure is alot of hostility on the board these days, just glad it wasnt me this time!! Its Friday, lets all just go have a frosty Bud light!!
