I'm looking at going to the classic expo this year and after looking at the map I got to thinking. They are going to catch the fish on grand, then drive them down the highway around 90 miles(from the launch site in Grove) into Tulsa to be weighed in. That seems like a lot to put those fish through. Its not like they are in a big tank with plenty of room, they will be in a tiny livewell. It could also be downright frigid there that time of year, causing the water in the livewell systems to possibly freeze. Anyone else think the logistics of this are a bit much?

All those miles are going to be much harder on the guys fishing than the fish. Water temps likely in the 40's. The fish will be fine.

Colder water in live wells means fish are living longer and have more oxygen. I don't think it would be too hard on the fish. They sit in live wells all day at times.

Extra 2 hours in a livewell shouldn't affect the fish. & if it's cold enough to freeze the moving water in the livewell system then they will have many other problems to worry about. & yes, of course it's about the money.

With just cooler weather I get the fish being alright. But what if the temp outside is 30 degrees? It does get that cold around there pretty regularly in February.

In 2011, Feb recorded some areas in Northeast Okla, Jay, right next to Grand Lake, had a 25" snowfall, and some areas in the state recorded MINUS 27 degrees air temps. You just don't know what you're gonna get in Oklahoma. And the BMC will be held in Feb....not too smart of thinking IMO. Let's hope for the best. I will be there either way, either sippin hot toddy's in a cabin on Horse Creek, or out watching all the fishing studs. We may drive one time down to weigh-in, if we can sober up enough! http://www.worldweatherpost.com/2011/02/...2-feet-of-snow/
