With water temps falling was wondering what presentation yall use with sassy shad and swim baits, etc as the water cools. Fished yesterday without any luck. Water temps mostly 58 degrees. Do yall cast / retrieve as usual or slow it down alot? And is trolling a good method when the water gets colder?

Slow down and down size on the jig head are two things that come to mind.
You might want to switch to a bait with a bit smaller profile, a dead assassin or a fluke.
If you are finding birds working over loons you can cast and retrieve a sassy shad at a fairly good pace, as the birds dissipate slow down and try to maintain an even depth with your lure. Keep your eye on the screen and try to match the depth of the fish.
If you are fishing for sand bass you might even switch to a smaller slab, slow down and use the zoom feature on your depth finder.

Another thing, on the retrieve, keep in contact with your lure as it falls on the cast. Frequently you will get bit on the fall, you can't set the hook with a bunch of slack in the line and you can't feel the bite either.
Vary the speed of you retrieve, a lot of times you will get bit just as you slow down or stop turning the handle on the reel.
Last helpful hint of the day: try to center the bait as you put it on the hook/jighead, it will keep line twist to a minimum. Few things suck more than having a lure pop off on the hook set, most of the time it is because of line twist.

I've written up a good bit of info on both techniques concerning both slabbing and throwing sassy shads/flukes. If you want to read the how to of Slab Fishing check out my " How to use a Slab" and if you want to read my " How to use a Sassy Shad/Fluke" Just click on the links provided. This information has been gathered from a lifetime of fishing. Good luck and if you any questions on fine tuning the technique feel free to call or send me a private message.
