Even though I live only 15 minutes away I had never fished the cesspool called Lake Houston until today. So up until today I had made the right choice in that regard. It was everything I suspected it wasn't. End the day with 5 small ones. It blows on a slow day knowing there aren't any real good ones in the Lake.

You picked about the worst day to give it a try lol. Super high pressure after a cold front. Actually up until today you made the wrong choice to fish the cesspool. If you cant figure out that little lake, good luck on a bigger lake lmao! Btw there are plenty of good one's, you just picked a slow day lol! BTW what was the water temp, and did you fish north or south of 1960?

A 5# or less wins most big bass in the Anglers Choice tournaments on Houston. On Conroe that typically won't win even the Sunday Tournament Big Bass. You better have a 8#+ if you want big bass in most Ignition Tournaments.

I don't consider a 5# fish really good good one. Decent just not great. Just can't get excited fishing a small fish lake.

Fished in Luces Bayou. Lots of shad mid way up the creek. I saw another boat catch two 10" fish. Nothing else.

I caught mine on a KVD 1.5 Black / Chartruese.

I use Lake Houston as a test lake for when I do smoething different to my boat or electronics. last time I fished it I actually killed 3 of my robo worms and 2 craw critters

it was a terrible thing to do but at least it was not to windy..

did see a gator and he was not interested in my robo worm- that will give you an idea of how bad it is..

So you went to a lake you say you have never fished on possibly a bad day and caught five fish. Then you basically call it a terrible lake. Hmmm.

I do agree it does not have many big fish but if you figure it out you can catch a lot of fish at times with a fair amount of three pounders at times. However, it is a small lake so if you choose to stay off of it for now on - Thank You.

There are days you can go out there and wack them pretty good. Spring time is best there are some 15# plus bags to be caught you just have to run around some. You also have to know the lake just like any other lake give it a few more shots I think you will like it.

If never fish it again that will be too soon. Not enough decent sized fish for my liking.

Haha houston ain't for everyone that is for sure. Personally I love the little mud hole. Had 17 pounds couple trips back followed by two days with limits around 14. Lake has been fishing better than I've seen it in years. Probably since the bean patch had hydrilla in it.

Couple things. 1, isn't this primarily a white bass lake? And 2, didn't they stock a ton of florida strain largemouth last year, so in a year or two should be a big boost in bass population?

1 no I would not call it a major white bass fishery. Catfish yeah maybe
2. They didnt stock a ton, but yes in a few years we hope to see a spark in the fish. Realistically in maybe 10 years I'd say. IF we get good spawns
