We have a 50 HP engine that idles fine but when at full throttle it intermittently loses power and will fall to half it's original speed. If you let off the throttle and wait a minute it will pick back up but the loss of power reoccurs every 500-1000 yards. I just wondered if y'all have any ideas where to start looking for the problem. Thanks in advance for any ideas.

Sounds like it's starving for fuel. Filter maybe? Is the bulb sucking in?

If the bulb sucks in then it's the bulb or the tank pickup. Do you have acces to a portable tank to test it with?

Fuel line degridation, fuel bulb, fuel pump, main jet in carb or anti syphon valve at fuel line connection of fuel tank.

Is your fuel line gray, Mercury used a fuel line that breaks down and the liner of the fuel line can fill the fuel pump with little peices of it , normally the fuel line is about a 2 ft peice,if the line is deteriated pull the fuel pump apart
