Hey everyone, I just purchased an Eagle FishMark 320 to replace the original fishfinder that came with the boat that I just purchased, 2000 Tracker Pro Crappie with a Humminbird/Tracker OEM finder. Along with the the Eagle I also got a swivel mount to put it on so that I can turn it and see it when I am fishing up front. My question is how hard will it be to install this thing? That might seem like a silly question to a lot of people on here but it is my first time replacing one of these and I just want to make sure that I don't mess anything up. Would it be in my best interest to just give it a go myself or since I am somewhat technically challenged should I take it to some place to have it proffesionally done? If that is the case does anyone have a suggestion as to where in the DFW area to go and how much that would set me back? Thanks.

Are you going to mount the transducer where the Humminbird's was (external transom)? If so, just mount it exactly the same way, in fact, use the mounting holes from the old transducer (squirt a bit of silicone sealer in first) and you'll be good to go! The 320 is one of the easiest to mount external like that. Use the same power wires that are on the Humminbird, just snip them back to give yourself something to connect to and you'll be fine!

Just follow the instructions and you'll be fine. Just use the same holes to install the bracket for your new transducer from the old bracket. Live and learn....

Before you pull the old transducer cable thru, tie a string off to the unit plug end long enough that it will snake along the same route and come out at the back. Then tie the string to the plug of the new transducer cable, wrap some electrical tape around it so the plug doesn't hang going back thru, and use the string to pull the new cable thru. Then mount the transducer where the old one once was.

I just mounted my Eagle 320 to my trolling motor. It was a piece of cake and I tested it on lake Ray-Bob last week. Works like a charm. I also changed some parameters on it to show arches vs. fish symbols and I moved the reference depth to 1ft below my boat. BPS sells a bracket for mounting the transducer to the trolling motor.

Not a silly question - I always get a little nervous first time I do any DIY task.
Did it earlier this year, piece of cake. Make sure the 'ducer is parallel to the surface of the water, which means compensating if it's not parked on level ground, and that the bottom half of it is below the bottom of the boat.
Also make sure there's enough cable pulled through the bracket to allow the 'ducer to swivel up when you slide over a stump. If you use the same holes as the old unit, fill 'em with 3M 5200 Marine Adhesive before putting the screws in, they have it at Walmart or BPS. If you don't, then go to West Marine and get some Marine-tex - it will permanently & quickly repair the holes.
You can do it!

One thing I did, though, was to wrap electrical tape around the new transducer wire and cord that you will pull it back with. Don't be shy with the tape, and tape the end of cable and cord so there won't be any problem with it snagging on anything. It took me about 30 minutes to put mine on. Good luck

Probably the best way for a jonboat is to drill and use SS bolts/nuts/lock washers and mount a SS plate to the jonboat with plenty of silicon sealer between the plate and the boat hull. Then drill and tap the SS plate to mount the transducer.
This is the way I have done it in the distant past on the jon boats I had.
