Man, my thanksgiving week fish-a-thon got sidetracked by pukefest 2012. All my kids were blowing chunks and I came down with the nitro-trots. Finally felt good yesterday, so this morning I packed the corolla and headed down to lake wack-a-hoochie. I figured I'd check out the creek first. It's a nice creek. Be even nicer if it had some fish in it. So I headed back to the tree stumps, and caught a nice 11 inch black crappie. Then nothing. I paddled all the way to the dam, trolling the whole way. Nothing. Paddled to a hump I found on my Navionics app labeled 'sand bass island'. That sounds exciting! When I got there, it really was an island. I guess the lakes a few feet low. Paddled back to make one more pass at the tree stumps. Picked up a 12 inch or so white crappie. That was it. Spent a nice day on the water and got lots of exercise, so I can't complain.

I did get to try out my twin rocket launcher setup. They worked really well, a lot easier to get the rods in and out than the old rod holder, even though there wasn't a whole lot of 'get the rod out' going on. Here's me showing off my rubber britches.

I like that! It looks much more functional than the triple mount I'm using!

Wonder if it is just too warm out? This week was slow for me (unless I drove up to Ray Roberts which seems to be just brimming full of crappie).

Well, at least you caught a few and you got well soon enough to get out before the holiday. Now I hope you and your family is well enough to enjoy turkey dinner :-)

Today was a slow day for me as well. Only managed 2 keepers a 10 1/2" & a 14". Even the sunfish or the dink crappies were active. Guess it was too warm today.

It was definitely warm today. I forgot my fishin hat to boot, got a bit of sun, and with my sunglasses on I ended up looking like a racoon.

I went to Southlake this afternoon and caught 8 bass. I think I had a couple more on that got away. It was a nice afternoon.

I knew it was going to be a hard difficult day when just minutes after launching I hit another stump & broke the drive pin on my TM AGAIN & I didn't have a spare. Paddled to the bank to see what I can do to fix it. Thankfully my dad's friend showed up on his bassbuster & gave me a spare pin had made from nails. Also the snag monster was out in full force today. Lost a bunch of jigs. I got so frustrated on the last snag of the day ended up breaking the tip on my rod. To top off a bad day on the water, some ignoramus parked their vehicle smack dabbed in front of the boat ramp. Man, that really chaps my hide! Had to pull my canoe through what little space there was. The way I was feeling, I wanted to do something about it, but I left it up to karma.

Won't catch me drinking alcohol, most of the stupidest things I ever did were directly linked. I usually drink monster but the gas station was out so today I was 'fishin like a rock star' !

Just spray 'em with WD40.

Now, the truth is, we used to do this on Rayburn 20 years ago and it worked. WD 40 was cheap back then. I would spray it on before every cast.
