Ok tomorrow is the day, I'm taking the boat out for the first time and hope to find some scaley friends. I'm going fully loaded with 2 different sizes of slab bandits, slab daddies and even minnows. Sadly enough I would call it a successful day if my boat doesn't leave me stranded out on the water.
Any advice for a rookie depth wise or anything else that you think would be helpful? Any and all advice would be helpful especially a ramp that isn't busy since I have never launched a boat before and I may be alone. Feel free to pm me or post it here

tie a long rope to the bow before you back in .....
then push her off or back her off and hold the rope ....
pull her back to shore and park truck .....
not gettin wet this time a year is a good thang .....
as far as where to go lookin ....
i have not been there in 35 to 40 years .....
but timber might have a few fish in 10 to 20 foot of water
and they may be huggin the bottom ...just a guess
good luck sir ....show us some crappie sir ....

well it looks like i will be on the bank yet again. boat will crank but wont stay on idle. I have cleaned the carb, empty fuel tank, changed fuel line and bulb, changed fuel filter, new plugs. we had it idling for a little bit then it died and wont crank again.yes im frustrated but i know i can have a good time at marshal creek in the morning. im going to be thankful for what i have and not be upset about what i don't. maybe i can get it running right in time for spring.

Hey ash sorry about the boat been there done that it stinks at times. Have you had a mechanic look at it? Sounds like you have been working every thing I would. If you near Denton id take a look at it. I have done allot of work on small engines some times it just takes a different set of eyes to look at it.
I was at the boat ramp on marshal creek and it looked very low is that the bank your going to?
Anyway good luck at the fishing.

i am taking it to a mechanic this next week. im strongly considering selling the boat. it is just me so a bass buggy, kayak or canoe would serve me better. i am going to start some modifications on my inflatable pontoon boat as well to make it more user friendly.
at marshall creek i either fish at the first picnic area or at the north east side next to the big brush pile that is normally in the middle of the creek but now is on the shore. i have had moderate luck with slab bandits and minnows.

Frustrating but once you get smoothed out you'll love it.
