Are you wired directly to the battery? If not I would start there first.

Ditto. And make sure if you extended the power cable to use 14 Gauge wire to make sure you have have plenty of current and voltage to supply the unit what it needs to operate properly.

First, I want to say that overall I am loving this unit. However, I am having a few problems.
1. I seem to be having problems with my SD card slot. When I write out my waypoints that looks like it works OK, but when I try to save a snapshot it says no SD card found.
2. I can't seem to upload waypoints from HumminbirdPC software to unit. I download waypoints from unit to SD card. I pull them into HumminbirdPC. I edit the names. I write them back to the SD card and check the box to overwrite the files on the unit. When I put the card back in and restart the unit. The waypoints do not upload. I did update the software successfully when I first got the unit this summer.
3. I seem to be having an issue with occasionally getting long pauses and long beeps when I push a button. This just started. My unit also self-power cycled once while on the water.
Does anyone have any suggestions. Am I doing something wrong? Should I try to reload the software? Do I need to contact Humminbird?
Thanks for any help, input, pointers.

Are you using a blank formatted SanDisk brand SD card?

The card is an 8Gb Sandisk card that was new when I started. I have only used it on my laptop with HumminbirdPC and in the sonar. Should I re-format the card each time I want to upload waypoints? Also, it does write to the card find when doing Save All under the waypoints menu.

I would format a new SD Card. Did you try both slots?
Assuming you have latest software in the unit? Early units did not support SDHC Cards which an 8GB is...but that been several years ago before SDHC cards where invented.

Thanks Doug. I will try a new card.
My model is FF597CI HD DI COMBO which only has one card slot. I do have the latest software. I updated it first thing when I got the unit in July.
If I put that same software on the SD card and start up the unit, will it reinstall the software or ignore it because it is the same version?

Well I figured out the problem, it was my stupidity I was putting the SD card in the unit and then powering it on. However, to get it to upload the waypoints you need to put the card in after the unit is powered on. I figured this out when I was looking at the software update process. Everything seems to be working great now with respect to the SD card. Next time out I will try saving some more waypoints and see if if the snapshots are working. Thanks to everyone for the help!

I now offer a 10' or 20' extension cable I made up to hook your Humminbird units straight to the battery. It is Ancor Safety Duplex Cable - 14/2 gauge wire with an inline fuse holder and a 3 amp fuse. It also has the battery loops on the end to connect to your battery. The power wire for Humminbird is only 6' and will not reach to the battery in many cases. Most will wire into a dash switch or fuse panel. This will sometimes cause a low voltage issue and create problems with your unit. I recommend wiring your unit direct to the battery to eliminate the chance for a low voltage issue down the road. This cable will assist you and save you some steps during your installation. Safety Duplex Cable ANCOR Duplex Cable is made to surpass the highest UL Boat Cable standards with ultra flexible (Type 3/Class K) stranding to resist fatigue due to vibration and flexing. Outer jacket is made for easy removal and provides the best abrasion resistance available ANCORs proprietary premium vinyl insulation stays flexible even in extreme cold and resists salt water, battery acid, oil, gasoline and ultra-violet radiation. Exclusive insulation is rated at 600 volts, 105C dry and 75C wet, and is resistant to heat and abrasion. Inner conductors are correctly color-coded to ABYC standards Features red and yellow Marine Grade primary conductors in white common jacket This will also help reduce/eliminate any other electrical interference.

This is an awesome addition to allow new Humminbird Owners a one stop shop for all their installation items. They can get premium wire ready to extend power cables with fuse and help make installation simpler and faster and done right the first time. One of the most common issues is insufficient power to run these electronics and this solves that! Awesome Addition David!

What voltage do you need for the unit to display correctly? I'm pumping anywhere between 13 to 14 volts so I don't think that's the problem.
Can it be something wrong with the transduecer?

It takes both Voltage and Current. Smaller Gauge (Larger Size Wire) will carry more current than Larger Gauge (Smaller Size) Wire. I would recommend 14-16 Gauge Minimum if you extend power cable. The Product that Shut Up and Fish has is perfect for this.
