I have been fishing a flat just off the creek with shad skipping everywhere around and cannot make the bass respond to any offering. This has been going on for 3 weeks and few fish have been caught. The area is very brushy and lanes through the brush few and far between. Any suggestions? Water temp low to mid 60's and stained. The flat covers 10 acres and has a firm sandy bottom.

Just because you can find shad it doesn't always mean there are fish present. We have graphed massive balls of shad with not a single bass present. I get stuck on there has to be fish here and I do nothing but wast time. Always be thinking where would bass be in relation to the present structure. They may have been there just not fishing where the fish were. My ADD is kicking in and I'm getting all over the place so I'll just stop.

Skip a shad colored tube bait on spinning rod.

try a fluke or topwater fished very fast and erratic, its a tuff bite when so many of the real thing is there.

This has been happening on the Trinity for a month now. THEY ARE EVERYWHERE!I can't get a dang thing to bite! I think there is just too much bait for the amount of LMB. What's weird is that the white bass haven't been hitting them either. BUT, if you must throw something, try a color completely different like Rayburn Red or Clown. JMO.

Sometimes to much bait can be a bad thing I think. But usually if there are fish in the area they'll bite a spook or a jerkbait. Have u seen bass surfacing?

The bass (i assume) will occasionally push a surge of water against the bank, shad go everywhere. It is frustrating to say the least, rarely will there be a surface explosion. Tried surface poppers, burning spinnerbaits and buzzbaits all are ignored by these fish, strongly considering the cardinal sin, minnows in a bass boat. I know the bass have won if that ever happens in my skeeter.haha

Shad will not bite. Sorry just could not resist. Sometimes too much of the real thing makes it tough if you do not have the exact right thing on.

Don't fool with them , if bass are busting the water of course it's on but normally we just move on .
