Looking into what you guys think as far as the fish and ski set ups go. I want a bass boat but the wife wants something "fun". I'm trying to compromise...

What are some things that I should absolutely look for or absolutely avoid in looking for a fish and ski rig.

Thanks!

I have one because I "compromised". Two years later we haven't taken one play trip. All it has ever been used for is fishing. Maybe you guys would use it more for playing than I do but I wish I had a regular bass boat. I make it work though. Beats not having anything.

There is a nice skeeter 190 SL that is for sale in the boats section. It is one sweet boat. You should check it out.

Accessible rod storage below and on deck. About the only complaint about the Nitro 288 I have.

My experience has been that a fish and ski really does neither very well. Get a ski boat or a bass boat, but a compromise will frustrate you on both counts.

I did a lot of research before buying my bass boat and kept hearing this^^^. My wife and kids came out the first time and havnt gone again since so I'm glad I went with what I wanted not what I thought I needed.

I used to have a Stratos 289 fish and ski for the "family" that never went and now I have a new Gambler 2200 and a hot wife that loves to go fast and fish peep

I was in the same situation a couple of years ago and ended up buying a skeeter sl190. Love it. No it doesn't have the deck space of a bass boat, but there are times even when I'm fishing I like have the extra room down in the boat. I'm not a tournament guy, but I do fish a lot. We ski and kneeboard every summer out of it as well...it's been a good deal for our family.

Make sure your wife does not get sea sick or terrified on bad weather days... Just saying I had a fish/ski and now I dont.

I have a javalin F/S and really like it. All the hardcore bass tournament guys are going to tell you never to get one but it really depends on how you like to fish. Here are the advantages: More space below, most important - easy to convince wife, rides slightly higher, windshield keep you from elements. The disadvantages are easy to see and they are deck space and rod storage. I use mine way more for fishing than sporting but I will tell you we pull a lot of people on tube for fun. I also like to fun fish with live bait sometimes and I have a rod holder I mounted on a seat pole so I love sitting across all the back seats with a beer waiting for that big hybrid or cat to hit. Next time I get a boat I will look at a nitro F/S because of price and its a 19'5 boat. If you want a bass boat / striper boat / ski boat it is really your only option.

I have a Champion 21sx with a 225 Yammy HPDI on it. It does both very well. I will sell it if you are interested. It is a 2007 model and in immaculate condition.

I'm happy with my Skeeter SL180. I would have rathered the 190, but the 180 fit in my garage. It's good as long as I only bring a few rods with me. I'm usually fishing by myself or my wife is with me lounging on the back.

I have a Ranger Z-520 with the after market Ranger ski-pylon. Cost me about a G after install. BEST INVESTMENT EVER. My wife loves to go out on the boat. Fish in the am.....around noon whip her around on the wake board for an hour or so and wear her out....lunch...back to fishing for the evening bite. Plenty of room on the back deck for her to lay out, tons of storage for her eighteen million things she has to bring, and a radio.

BEST OF BOTH WORLDS!

Chris
