I was just wondering if anyone could tell me where a good spot to bank fish from on Lake Belton. I was thinking below the Dam, but I am not from around that area. Also, I am new to fishing, so was wondering if it is a bad time of the year to fish since it is starting to get cold. If it is not, what time of day will guarantee the best results?

First of all welcome. I would look at fishing the banks around BLORA. A good place to start this time of the year would be fishing the marina area and the fish house. Also down from the fish house is a rock bluff at has been good for bank fishing. The up coming week looks to be ideal so I would try to get there around sun-up. Hope this helps and good luck.

The Bank at the end of Sparta Valley Park, not in the bay but beyond the boat ramp. The banks on the right side of Franks Marina, as you look out at the water from the little dock. You can catch almost any fish in the lake from these spots, Try different baits, depths and presentations. Good Luck!!

Yup try the barge at Blora I went last week and caught a couple of crappie and a guy gave me a nice size channel cat. Just make sure you tie your rods down. I lost a nice abu garcia ultra light on that trip. Funny thing is a fish pulled it right into to the water while me and another fisherman where talking about how important it was to tie your rods down, I had 4 rods and I lost the only rod that was not tied down. Also because of the light show there is a temporary closing of the barge, I am not sure what time it closes but it reopens at 12am. minnows seem to be the ticket.
Life is a beach, i'm just playing in the sand.

Google map of the lake, will show you Sparta valley park, Blora is Belton Lake outdoor recreation area (Fort Hood)
Franks Marina is on FM 439 just before the Dam/ FM 439 is rancier rd in Killeen, just drive east until you see Dead fish Grill, Franks Marina in in that park, next to /below the Dead fish grill.

If your close to Morgans Point, try Rogers Park at daylight. Just walk the banks east and west.
