I am in Massachusetts and they don't have any academys here and one bass pro way too far away. My BIL took me to dicks and I had never been on one. They had Yamamoto senkos for $5 bucks a bag.

I don't get all the Academy hate. They usually have what I need at a fair price and can usually find some good sales. I think they have better than average customer service, a liberal return policy and fairly friendly employees. They are a Texas company so I like to support that as well. Some locations are better than others. Dick's is not really a fishing store to me in any way but usually have great deals on clothing and workout gear.

Tackle Warehouse. Click on the screen and a couple of days later it shows up on your doorstep. No wasting gas to get there only to realize they don't have what you want.

We have one in just about every city and like I said they have what I want usually and their prices are good.

Bought a bass buster at Dick's a few month's ago, they gave me the wrong paper work, had to drive back from the Tx Parks and Wildlife Office in Mesquite to Flower Mound. TPWD said they were the worst in the metroplex about sending folks with boat purchases away with the wrong/incomplete documents for boats that need to be registered and were in danger of loosing their boat sales license. But, I was very pleasantly surprised to find that when I went back to Dick's the first person who greeted me at the door was the store manager who got me what I needed and even gave me $150 store credit for my trouble. That I did use partly on some KVD 2.5s I wish they had a better selection of plastics too.

It is not hate for me as much as disgust. They us to have a great selection and good prices. Since the new company bought it the fishing section in McKinney has went from 6 isles to 3. It is just not the store they use to be. Dicks is a joke, they rank right up there with Walmart for tackle.

I will continue to shop both.
I live literally right in the middle of both BPS locations in the Dallas area. BPS has the best selection but they are the highest priced.
Academy has the basics, that's it! I'm starting to really hate that store.
Dick's in the NorthPark area has more of the "higher-end" items that I like. They do have good clearance sales!
