I am just wondering what everyone prefers for lures... academy or dicks? Of course bass pro and cabelas are by far better than these two but just out of curiosity what does everyone like?

I use Bass Pro a lot because I live 10 minutes from the Garland store. Been to Cabela's a couple of times. And I do like Academy. Been to Dick's too, but only bought fishing stuff there maybe once or twice. I like online too, like Tackle Warehouse, Brannan's, Santone, and I just ordered some brush jigs and a Jiganator from Elk River! Jack from there, tied me a watermelon red skirt that I can't wait to try out!

If your only choice is Academy or Dicks then for me it's Academy, hands down. You can certainly find some deals there, but really BassPro has the best overall selection and if you are active or prior military you can get a 10% discount everyday by simply showing your ID card.

Dick's really is not even close to being a tackle store. VERY limited selection of anything fishing related. Half an aisle in Academy has more fishing stuff than the entire Dick's store.

I shop em' all. Sometimes you can find things at Dick's that Academy doesn't have and vise versa. But yeah BPS and Cabelas are first choice for retail.

They do have killer deals. I picked up 5 quantum tour PTs (new ones with carbon handles) for a grand total of $125. Less than half the normal price of one

I think Dick's has the same buyer as the old Oshmans - too bad they don't have the same clearance sales like Oshmans did...

To me it's no use going to Academy anymore, except to get line, went to the Temple store last sunday to pick up some trap's for the one's i lost. They a total of 27 total, i counted them. So i asked the guy when they were going to get some more in" that's what have none on order. Wally World has more of a selection!!!

I prefer Brannans Bass Shop, family owned for the 30 yrs. Support the little man. One day everything will be cooperate. Brannans is having a ONLINE SALE as we speak check out the web site: www.brannansbass.com Shipping is " FREE " on orders over $50 and $5 on lesser orders.

I get most of my stuff from academy. Bass pro has the exact same stuff as academy plus more and it is more expensive at bass pro.
