You should still be able to launch at Uncle Gus. I know you can at McCowan. Good luck

It does not really matter,as Whitney has been the dead sea for so long,I wonder if it will ever be the same. When it came up over 16 feet in 2 weeks ,the fish just plain stopped biting.ALL of them, strippers, whites black, crappie, ect. And no one can really give a good reason why.It really sucks when you have a lake house there, with a bass boat,a slip with a pontoon boat, and have tried everything I no to catch a fish. And I grew up on lake Belton, and have fished for over 40 years. When is the last time you have seen all the birds, and 10 to 15 boats all catching sand bass?Even the guides are not going out.
May your wiener schnitzel always stay above your lederhosein.

Hmmmm. Someone forgot to tell me. Been smoking the magnum whites lately. Stripers slow but if you want to have a blast with the magnum sandies come get ya some. Chartreuse slabs working best, look around the island and fish em slow Bluecats been on a awesome bite as well, 45 to 60' of water along the river channel. On the lake the other day and it looked like the lake was turning over.....again!!!! Been a strange year on Whitney but come on down, 8' low, the ramps are open and the white bass, catfish and black bass are biting.

One more tidbit if I may. There are reports of stripers being caught in the river above Whitney up around Hamm Creek area, at least that is according to the park ranger there. The Crappie and Whites have started there migration up river like they do every year and evidently (by word of mouth) the white bass fishers are getting in on some Stripers. I haven't ventured up there.....yet, but plan on taking my butt and heading that way with my dead sticking gear as soon as the temps drop more, been busy on Whitney catching whites, big magnum whites and blue cats, blue cat bite that is unsurpassed by any. Can't get your bait down fast enough kind of bite, on prepared bait (JPIGGS STINKBAIT) on the river channel edges and ledges. Like I told someone one time about the bite at Whitney, better come get ya some! I believe from the fish that we are catching that this spring the whitebass record will be broken at Whitney, we are catching 2 + pound whites and they already have eggs starting to form, bring on a full blown spawn and add some poundage with fat and eggs and your going to see whites like you've never seen on Whitney before.

Thats good to hear Randy! Whitney sure has had its run of bad luck. I know two summers a go there were some monster stripers caugt during a TSA tournament. Lets hope and pray for the best this winter.
