Went to some of the creeks around Grapevine and found nothing....
Checked Alton bridge and just west of the bridge no water.
Below the bridge not bad but no running water.

There are fish in every creek right now. Just not in the numbers they will be in a month.

Rowlett has a few, but nowhere near enough to hold my attention right now. Much better fishing than that out there right now. Easy limits if you know where to find them...

I've found them staging around the mouth of RC. I work right by bass pro, so I stop and wet a line in that area almost every day before work. Jig-n-bobber. 1.5" slip cork and a 1/8th blue jig head, purple mist or the new midnight black bobby garland baby shad have been doing well. Minnows work too, but not quite as rewarding IMO. Been fishing anywhere from 2-8ft down. Gotta experiment. Each day is different. Need another good week of cold temps at night, and a nice heavy rain should get them in there, then it shouldn't be too hard to find them. Jig-n-bobber is the best way to go.

At least you caught some keepers! Went to Hickory creek Wednesday and only caught a few dinks. I guess most are fishing there at night. I saw campfire set up all over the creek.

I'm at hickory creek I wouldn't even go to WRC too many dinks and too many people. It's not fun fishing shoulder to shoulder.

not in number yet. saw people setting up 6,7 rods and sitting there for 1 hour without a bite. Kind of wasting time. wait till it gets colder.

Went out yesterday, off of 661 at JP, caught 3 keepers, and watched 2 guys come by with a bucket of real nice keepers 25 in all, talking to them I found out the fault in my technique for the day and that was i tried to fish back and forth the same 100 yards, where as they where for a lack of better terms, running and gunning, staying mobile, hitting the stumps and moving on up the creek. they caught all there's on jigs and said the fish seemed to be on the move all day. And to let anyone know that fishes 661, these guys said they were catching fish from 100 feet from the bridge all the way to just past the pipeline cut

I've been walking a creek bank, been catching a few. I've been having to work HARD for those few. How are yall riggin? I've been using the cork and jig rig and reeling it really slow at times letting it sit for a second. Yall doing something similar or totally different?

Kayak, in the thickest snag structure you can find. Banking presents a little tougher time.

Stopped by Rowlett Creek for about an hour yesterday night and caught a few keepers. Bunch of 9" fish. Hand-tied jigs, and Bobby Garlands. (Purple Mist, Blue Ice, Black/Chart., White/Chart, and the Chartreuse MoGlo jigs all have been working.)

It certainly does. I was actually planning to fish farther up. Started by that tree stump, and caught a few. Just didnt feel like walking farther up, so went down to that spot instead.

There are brush piles just up stream of you right in the bend where it turns right. 12 ft of water.

Hit 661 ( Moutain Creek into Joe Pool) Friday,Saturday and Sunday got a total of 20 keepers, tough fishing, but the ratio of keepers verse throw backs was 20-5, which made it well worth it, probably would have done much better if I had been out in the mornings as I was seeing people with large numbers of keepers walking out as I was getting there all 3 days.

Goldsoonr, what creek did you hit ? MC on 661 was low to, but the fish didn't seem to mind, obviously it would be better if we had some rain, I caught fish in areas where the main creek is no deeper than 4ft, but the best fishing was in the deeper parts where the channel is probably 10-15 feet deep

Went to a creek up in Anna that was fenced in but still - low. Hit the Creek behind Town Lake in McKinney - low. Looked for water in the creeks North of Lavon - Low. Was at my honey hole in Ray Roberts a couple of weeks back - low.
I need a new spot bad!

Well,I'm not buying into the low water beeing a problem as I as I caught crappie off 661 for three days over the weekend and if i had of got an early morning start I know I would have caught more fish as I saw lots of people walking out with large stringers of fish (15-25)

Went to Hickory Creek this morning. Got noting at all. Also went to the brush pile that Tarpon talks about nothing.
I was using jigs. I found lots of dead minnows and bags on the bank must be what they want.

I found that the bite dies around 930-10am and the best time is right at dawn. And they won't touch my bobby Gs just minnows.

It's about time he showed up down there. There has been a lot of people keeping under sized fish down there again this year.

Spoke to him yesterday at the Loves Gas station in Midlothian. He stated they have received alot of calls Historically, and will be monitoring the area more this year. Please save Operation Game thiefs # to your cell phone 800.792.4263 and call and report if you see anyone keeping under sized fish. The fines can run up to $125.00 per fish depending on the judge, so that might help keep this down in the future after a couple of citations.

GOOD !!! I haven't seen anyone personally with under size fish, but I'm glad they will be checking. My ratio of fish Keeper verses Non keeper has heavely weighed towards the keeper size 11 inchs and bigger, and yes I never guess I measure every fish

mad So... I went out after work and was there for an hour and a half, and landed 14 sand bass. ALL were small. November so far has been a bust!.....(on crappie).... I have caught a lot of crappie and sand bass this month, but all have been small. Never would have thunk it but September was really good on crappie. October was OK, and I was sure that this month I would have had a couple of fish fries. Last year the best month was February.

Nothing big, but walked the bank today with my 15' telescoping pole and a 1/32 yellow jig and caught 10. Thought I'd share a few pics.

Went out this morning. Kept 4 crappie. First one @ 12", Threw back 3. 11 sand bass all throw backs. Feeder creek off of LL. Tube jigs. They did not like Bobby Garlands today. 7 A.M. till 11 A.M.

And why is it that I land The biggest one most of the time with in the first 10 minutes of beeing there. And then nothing for a while?

Didn't get to my creek til 1:15pm, but was able to catch a few. I was very surprised I caught any crappie at all considering how hot it was yesterday.

The 3 smaller ones are long-ears...JFYI!

I hit wrc yesterday morning from 10-11:30. I caught three keepers and 12 or so total crappie, and 5 yellows. All were caught on white or monkey milk bobby garlands. It surprises me that Carey is fishing today with the air pressure at 30.28.

I like days with high pressure. Alot of people stay home and I still get into them with less crowds.

Killed them this morning. Then the air pressure dropped rapidly and shut them down. Caught about 20-30. Jig and bobber 3-4 ft deep.

It's good when it's rising or falling slowly within a certain range. Slowly as in like .01 an hour. If the pressure is holding or changing slowly within the 30.10 range to the 29.5ish range you're good to go. In my experience

Uploaded this photo of 1.5" tube jigs and 1/16th ounce jighead for Bin. Bin asked to see a picture of the tubes since he's new to fishing. He has been watching and replying to the threads related to bank fishing and crappie fishing around the creeks.

If it's snowing and blowing tomorrow morning, I may HAVE to head to a popular, famous urban creek! Two best days i ever had crappie fishing, one of them in a sleet storm with the temps at 26 degrees farenheit, and the other in a snowstorm, in a bar ditch, where i built a fire to keep warm and couldn't stand still next to the fire long enough to get warm, the crappie were biting so fast! Both days, i got em on jig/bobber, in less than two hours. Limited on both trips with some saddle blanket slabs. Keeping them fresh was no problem. they froze on the ground!!!!

If the snow stays away, Tuesday and or Wednesday should be MEGA ON!!!!!

I love winter fishing!!!!!

Bring on the elements!!!!!!

Yup, no need for ice or laying the fish in the water. We just put them on a stringer and keep them in the leaves behind us. Rudy, call me if your going. I have a better spot. No one in sight all day. Ill report later with pics.

Hey fellas at 661 mtn creek.. Saw two guys with 15 plus on the stringer each... Ill be going this weekend for sure.. I didnt have much time at all to fish..

Probably drop by seeton rd creek one the way home from 661..

Anyways is it safe to eat the fish at mountain creek belows joe pools dam?.. Im 1 mile from there... And thats a long long creek... I know that mountain creek is contaminated but i dono if it would be contaminated way back off the dam.. I see no sign about warning on camp wisdom nor at the spillway about eating fish..

Really i guess i should just call a game warden..

Actually I use my canoe. The creek that I go to is low & there's a lot of submerged stumps that wreak havoc on the Mirage Drive on my Hobie Outback. The creek has no bank access or bank fishing allowed thankfully or regretfully depending on who you are.

Finally getting the hang of the creek fishing this year! Here's a couple nice ones my sis caught. She caught all the keepers while I kept the dinks busy. Think we threw back about 20 and took 7 for dinner. She always seems to out fish me when crappie chasing! Have to go without her next time...lol rolfmao

Went to walnut creek joe pool.. Lyod park.. Caught one keeper missed 2 bites.. Ambient temp was 32. I dont think crappie are chasing shad no more.... Water has to be too cold.

Used minnows and jigs

Is WRC producing? Whole lot of people at the bend. I have tried to go off the beaten path to see if I can find them on the creek somewhere else but no luck yet.

I actually went today around 12 and yes, a lot of people at the 1st and 2nd bend. Like FULL. I went upstream and hooked into yellows and shad. So much shad the I just left my hook still for a couple seconds and they just swim into it and get hooked. But no crappie frown

When fishing a creek it's harder for me to catch crappie
after a little rain even though I wait couple days for the current to slow. Any tips when there's a bit more current?

I've never really creek fished for anything, so fishing for crappie in a creek is totally new to me also. I will say that it gets easier the more you do it and I love the challenge.

I could be wrong but I don't think crappie really care for current. I look for slack water and any type of structure.

It will take a couple of days for the creeks to get clearer, be careful with the slick banks.

In general at this time of the year what time of the day is best to head out for some crappie creek bank fishing?

Hey REN, you and I fished a spot a few years back. I had the yellow Heritage Osprey. The place where you have to unload between the overpasses and then park beside the bridge? Are you catching all these crappie there? Guess I really should be asking this in a PM. So I'll do that too.

It's been so hard to fish white rock lately cause the pressure has just been so high and crappie are the fish most sensitive to it here's the link that I check it at http://www.usairnet.com/weather/conditions/?station=KTKI

There's fish that are being caught despite the high pressure. Every crappie that I caught today they swallowed the jig.

Well some of us have not and We think its due to high pressure BS.
Tell us the place that you have been limiting out at then on the Hight Pressure Days.
And what water depth are you fishing at? At least tell us that.
Deep water fish are not so affected to the pressure well at least thats what I have read for the last hmm 10 years or so.

Wrc & walnut creek JP. Area of the creek i fish is 5-6ft deep max. I dunno if it affects it or not but if you're not going fishing because the "pressure" is too high. Dumb excuse if u tell me..

. Fish are bipolar they are gonna bite like crazy some times, have lockjaw the next. . I've always felt that it's drastic quick change in conditions that shuts the bite down (or fires it up in rare cases) like quick drop in temp, cold front, major wind shift, floods, etc. if Pressure is steadily rising or falling, it's probably ok, quick fall or rise, and they'll shut down. This is just my opinion, and it seems to be true for animals as well, because I've noticed drastic changes make deer bed down when I'm hunting.

I think there's definately something to all this "low pressure" and "high pressure" talk. I've fished when the fish literally have lock jaw (and it's not fun, but better than staying home). I fish when I have the time and right now the fish are biting. I'm still learning how and when to use a slip/pegged bobber. To me, this is a new challenge, and I'm getting better.

Anyways, the fish are in the creeks and they can have my jigs all they want. I don't discriminate!!!

Totally understand and agree with you; pressure effect human as well [particularly to somebody have blood pressure problem], another remarkably effect to fishing during day on moonrise & moonset.

went creekin yesterday in the yak, and pulled 6 with only 3 keepers. they were on a drop off where the bottom goes from 9-12 ft next to a log. found it on the FF, good size school when I went over it, so turned around and tied to the top of the log/stump. after 5 fish they moved. so I tried some of my GO TO spots, and nothing but a drum. went back to the first stump and pulled one more and missed another. fished from 8-11... half of that was looking around. One and the largest was on a minnow the other 5 came on jig... and missed one on a minnow.

I tried Big Mineral creek up in Hagerman Saturday afternoon. nada.. Water was fairly murky. Fished a lot of laydowns and brush. Beautiful area. Anyone fish there much? I need help!

For me around the time it is cold enough to put on a sweater, the crappie are in the creeks, i.e. mid to late October. It is counter intuitive because on the main lake they start heading deeper around the same time and don't come up shallow until the spring spawn.

Went to WRC today to check on the condition of the creek. Water current seems to have waned a little bit. Ill wait a few more days for the water to clear up before I start fishing again. There is now a big tree that got swept in the middle of the "bend".

That tree wasn't there yesterday morning, I think it's an old tree from the bank that finally gave way.

Murky water with no flow. Caught on white/chart jig on a 1/8 oz hot pink jig head. Water depth was maybe 3 ft in some fallen timber. Morning temp was 25 degrees. The bite didn't start picking til temp was in the mid 30's. 10 crappie & 2 sandies were caught vertical jigging & only 2 crappie on jig 2.5ft under a bobber.

The way to communicate with the fish is to drop them a line.
To argue on a fishing boat is to have de bait.

Absolutely zero bites in a creek off the colorado in the highlands. Three days and no crappie, no whites. I suspect the major cold front flushed everything out into the river. No bait visible for the first two days, by day three shad were back, but nothing was chasing them. In another day or two, I bet lots of predators move in. Bad timing I guess, but you go when you can.

I didnt think they were biting the other day, but I could see them on my FF on my kayak. I literaly had to set the rod down so my jig wouldnt move. they hit it almost instantly. they wanted it dead, 2-3 inches off the bottom. Not that you dont know what you are doing, but it seems like lately for ME they have been wanting SUPER STILL... just my observation.

Good Luck to ya
