I work by eagle mountain a lot and it looks real fishy. Is it worth the drive from Mansfield? Where's a good put in to find some crappie or sand bass? I wouldn't drive further than pool if all you are looking for is sandies and crappie. Sandies are on the humps out by the dam. Hard to see on your fish finder until they blow up because they stay so close to the bottom. Use a slab to vertically jig for them. I've caught a few magnums already out there. If you are only catching dinks more around and try different humps. Forget about fireman's, it aint holding. Concentrate closer to the damn. Lots of humps out there, just have to look. Crappie are still on deep structure. You should do okay at the bridges if you don't know where any 20'+ brushpiles are at. Key is just to find their depth which seems to change every trip. Minnows are way out fishing jigs.

I wished someone would have told about their spot when I started yakking, but I did the old fashion way of finding it myself. hoho how quickly they forget. I even sent you screenshots of brushpiles with the gps cords still on them.

Think you played a prank on me not even a nibble....lol I believe we had built somewhat of a friendship before you gave me those cords & besides I don't think that I was a green horn at the time either. I found my creek through searches on TFF & some luck. What I am saying is I did a little research. My 1st few post wasn't "where is your honey hole?" or I didn't jump someone's post after seeing their pics & ask if I can join them. I would ask general question like what body of water? What lures was used? What depth? Never did I ask to join or to be taken to said spot. And if you look at my "REN's Fall/Winter Crappie Report", you'll see that I post "Open Invites". YOU DON'T SEE MANY CRAPPIE FISHERMEN DO THAT AT ALL.

I spend whole weekends tho, building and placing crappie structure. So no, with that much time and money invested in them, I don't advertise them.

The week after christmas me and the kids drive around the neighborhoods pulling a trailer and everytime we find a live christmas tree somebody has tossed we nab it. By the 1st of the year there is a stack of christmas trees in my back yard taller than I am. And I have to suffer the wife's wrath until I can get them all anchored and placed. So nope, I don't tell nobody about them either.

I met this guy while on another creek (he actually met us out there) a fellow TFFer. After introductions & fishing together he would talk about how hot his honey hole gets for crappie & when time comes he would take us, but that never came to fruition. The thing was I never asked about his spot. He offered freely & didn't follow through. Maybe he was just making conversation or just BSing with us or plain forgot.

I really enjoy all the responses on this post.... here's how it starts and ends...to all the newbs... see below... i just went through this phase myself in a year.... eager to go scan every lake now....
1. shore fish 2. ask people for hot spots 3. hear stories of on water fishing.... 4. ask people for hot spots 5. don't want to buy a boat due to cost, so buy kayak. 6. ask people for hot spots 7. can't find fish 8. ask people for hot spots 9. buy fish finder...(cheapest cuzz you don't know [censored] yet) 10. ask people for hot spots 11. upgrade 5 times the cost of fish finder.... 12. ask people for hot spots 13. no one responds to all your requests 14. find your own hot spot (with hard work) 15. people ask you where your spot is... 16. you tell them "LAKE X". LOL
