I too went with the kids I saw LOTS of exibits and displays but shopped very little. The only thing I managed to leave with was two small stuffed deer for the girls.

Keep in mind a couple of things guys. First off, this is NOT the grand opening, just a soft opening with no advertising or hoopla. The Grand Opening is in July. Second, this is the first store even in the south. If don't see what you want, tell the guys at the reel bar. We are tracking this very closely and will try to adjust inventory as needed as soon as possible.

Went with Lonestarcarper on Friday. Cabelas to me has potential. They do need to be more price competitive, but they do have a broader selection. As a dedicated carp angler, it is difficult to find stuff in mainstream stores. Yet, Cabela's at least attempts to be more multi-species. We even talked to them about stocking some 2.25 TC 12 ft Cabela's Predator rods which serve nicely as entry level carp rods.
I ended up buying a 300yd spool of 100lb superbraid for shock leaders, a 10 pack of 3 oz disc sinkers for short range bolt-rigging, a 25 pack of size 1 Owner Fly Liner hooks for slash and grab feeders in current, and a pack of Tiemco nymph hooks for general purpose ten pounder duties. Oops, almost forgot a 10 lb bag of Plot Spike Chufa's (aka tigernuts).
From what I could see, Cabela's has a much broader stock of hunting and camping stuff, while BPS has a bit more bass stuff.

Fish-Schtick, I was in there on Saturday. Great store I thought, and a great fishing selection. Perhaps that's because I'm more of a multi species angler then just a bass angler, but I found stuff in Cabelas I've wanted, but not been able to find since I lived in MN. Also had a great reel selection, and I'll be looking forward to checking out those predator rods hehe.
