Prety sure my transducer in my Motorguide digital went bad. I have an adapter cable that I am going to change first but pretty sure thats not it

I havnt been able to find any info on how to change one. I looked on motorguides site and googled.

Anybody changed one or do you have to buy a new lower end.

Thanks Billy

Thanks, Billy

A service shop can change out the transducer for a reasonable price, considering they have to open up the motor case. I had a MG TM with the built-in transducer and it made an audible ticking sound when it pinged. Drove me nuts, and I'm sure the fish could hear it too. I needed to get the motor changed out under warranty and just had the shop put in the standard motor. I mounted a puck transducer with a hose clamp and eliminated the ticking noise.

The transducer is supposed to make a ticking noise. It is transmitting sound pulses. It won't work without doing that.

I found out they make a nose cone with the tranducer built in, the style I have leaked in some cases.

I'll just get the style and replace it.

Thanks, Billy

The fundamental transmitted frequencies of Sonar systems are well above the threshold of being audible (by fish or humans).

In the case of fish finder Sonar systems (like Lowrance and Hummibird though), the fundamental frequency is Pinged or turned on and off abruptly and rather poorly and this switching is done at a frequency within our range of hearing. Enough energy i s lost to generate a clear clicking sound.

SONAR doesn't have to be audible' to work if the Ping frequency selected is above or below our range of hearing. Lowrance and Humminbird both chose PING frequencies that are audible.

Unless you have a Lowrance ready motor you have to change the whole lower unit and the adapter cable running to the foot pedal.
