I am literally shaking with anticipation right now!

I have been thinking for the past 24 hours about how many fish I lost to pulled hooks. I am not talking about missed bites; I am talking about well into the fight the hooks pulling loose. The Owners were needle sharp, and not one of them bent. I was pulling hard, short stroking, but no more than I always to. Same drag, everything. The only thing I can figure is that on tuna this big, a 3/0 treble just can't find as much hold in such a cavernous mouth. I am thinking of trying the new OTI single hooks. Any bigger treble and the lure won't swim well.

Or it could be whoever above said we wouldn't have any mojo was right. :-)

Brian ..... I have a bag full of Frenzy Flyers going and they are rigged with Owner 4X 4/0. I too have had issues with hooking fish with them while fishing next to Keith Banks and Clint Clark and they are hooking every one. they told me you have to count to something like 3 - 5 before setting the hook when you see the initial strike or blowup. I'm gonna try that.

BTW if I catch a 150 pounder with your popper in it's jaw I'll bring it back to you...;.

I think he is talking about me. I had no problems and finished a nice book.

The only difference the weather made was about the last six hours, and then only when running back to the rig right into the waves. THat was a rough 15 minutes each time. But I was taking a break around 1 am during a drift, and Porkchop and I were sitting at a table talking. Drinks on the table didn't even move. 8-10ft seas, swells to 12'. It seems to defy physics how stable that boat it. The ride in was a non-event. Surfed the whole way in.

Hey Jim .... et al .... I bought a couple of Waxwings and decided to change out the straight hook that was on them to an upgrade. Well I got the first one changed out but because the eye on the new hook is so big I am having fits. To get the first one changed it took a gun, a knife, a screwdriver and a ball peen hammer. LOL

Does anyone have a real good pair of splitring pliers that they will have with them to help me change out this second hook?

i got 3-4 pair in my bag.
