It Matters if you're a Bird Looking Down rolfmao.

Just kidding - Yes I do think it matters.

Don't really think the top part really matters that much - but at Night use Black, Overcast use bone or yellowish/chartreuse , Clear days use White or Silver/Chrome.

You will see Big Differences given the conditions,

PS: on Jerk Baits/Stick Baits - which kind of turn side to side - they will see the color change - so that's when that top might matter. On Chug Baits, Prop Baits & Buzz Baits - Top don't really matter - Unless you're a Bird.

WaitN for ya to jump in JD! We talked about this topic on my last trip north!

Match the size of bait being chased. Then look at wind. I find chugN baits and or BuzzBaits work better with a chop on water. If its glass I like a walk the dog bait.

Retrieve speed important too! I think colors are added to catch Anglers not more fish.

Think about it. Your lure is floating on the surface and the Striper if feeding from below. Does it see the back or belly of your lure? This top water season the Skitter POPs and Chug Bugs we threw that had a orange belly outfished all other colors.I experimented and quickly changed lures. That being said, I remember past year's the bottom color was different. So who know's what color they like?

I don't know how it could matter either. I was watching InFisherman Nd they stated that the TOP color was pertinent because the reflection of the back could be seen by the fish. huh LOL.

I will stick with Bone, and chrome

If the tail end of the bait hangs down into the water at rest i could see it making a difference.

it's the crapy days that make the good days that much better!!!

It makes a difference in lure sales.
This past summer, I grabbed a black top water and tied it on during the day. Caught just as many as the rest of the people in the boat.

If it matters to you, as in you have more confidence in a certain top color then it will matter, but not to the fish.

I have nothing to add, but, when I go to Texoma to top water fish I take a big box of stuff. J.D. always points to the same lure and tells me to tie it on.

Next time I go he is going to let me put hooks on it.

It ain't easy making it look easy.
