I'd be obliged for any info or experiences: I'm thinkin' of takin' Mrs. Oldgringo (wouldn't go without her), our little RV and our ChampioN 191 to Amistad and spending a month or so this winter. We'd boondock in the NPS campgrounds and fish when and where needed. How do we go about this without gettin' our throats slit and our stuff stolen?

howdy Oldgringo, First, are you coming to fish for bass or are you interested in chasing stripers during the winter, either way I can put you on some fish, if you would like drop me an email and let me know what kind of experince you want to have and I would be more than happy to help you out, I grew up on this lake and have been fishing it for more than 25 years.

Thanks Amistad Man. Perhaps, I should rephrase the question. The first consideration is safety/security in the NPS campgrounds. The LMB fishing will take care of itself. Is it safe for two geezers to dry-camp alone in the NPS campgrounds in January/February?

Where are you HnF? 15 degree mornins' and a foot of snow on the ground signal that it's time to head back to Tejas - alas. You have been a fount of knowledge on RV'n and fishin'. Hope all's well with you and yours. Are y'all up to a trip to Amistad? Greg aka Oldgringo

Sure it is safe you should have no problems, The park service has increased and are doing more patrols in all areas. As far as LMB fishing good luck, I hope you catch a bunch with a couple of big ones.

Amistad Man you ever make it down here to Falcon? Don't mean to hi-jack but I had to ask.

No, and that is a shame. I have always wanted to fish falcon. Most times I head up into north Texas to fish heavily pressured lakes to improve my skills. I wan't to fish falcon some this winter growing up I heard it is awsome.

We are not coming to break a record...just to fish a good lake.
