Kelly's Country Cooking - 5 locations in Houston Area So good I even took a picture  All that for $11.00 AMAZING place to eat.  They also have an amazing $8.00 hamburger

Lonestar Tavern Steak House when the original owners Charlie and Irene ran it. It was located on the East side of Bellmead. Charlie passed away several years ago but Aunt Irene is still sipping cold beer and mean as ever.
Best I have found since is Mary's in Strawn; had a medium CFS there last night after grandsons junior high football game.

Don g, like you I keep going back to Marys. I've tried a lot of them and I'd like to try some more that a few here have posted up but Marys is it so far. I have a few critiques. I like brown gravy and I like mashed potatoes. I don't like my salad served on the same plate. It's not much of a salad anyway. It's the best CFS I've had anyway.
what we need is another Joseph McCarthy

Haven't read all of the posts but what about Jake and Dorothy's in Stephenville? Not bad a tall but can't hold a candle to Mary's. I do love them waffle fries at Jake and Dorothy's.

Haven't read all of the posts but what about Jake and Dorothy's in Stephenville? Dang I was eating the Chicken Fried Steaks at Jake and Dorothy's back in the 70's and 80's every year we played a fast pitch softball tournament there at Stephenville. They were good too.

They do make a mean chicken fry. I always get mine with gravy on half and Queso on half. Their 3lb cinnamon roll doesn't suck either.

Roadhouse Bar and Grill in Durant Oklahoma. About 10 from Choctaw casino. The place in the old part of Durant and was filled with locals. Very generous portions but the CFS was huge! And very good also. This was a huge plate and it still filled one side of the plate. REAL cream gravy.
