I know that there is already a post on fishing in north Texas. But are there any specific recommendation for bluegill fishing on Lake Lewisville or Ray Roberts. Or for that matter anywhere around the Denton area. I am looking for some place to take my young daughter for some bank fishing.

I would try taking her to a community lake or a park lake. It seems that fish are pretty easy to find at City Parks and kids have a blast there. You may also try locating public docks or State Parks in your area. They usually have lots of areas to fish at most State Parks.

I have never fished on Ray Roberts! Hopefully you will get some good information from someone who has. As for fishing with the Kids try to get it very simple and fun. Usually an hour or two keeps the attention span in most cases for young Kiddos. As stated already I would look for a good community lake or pond. I would also look for some public docks. Just about any body of water is going to be holding Bluegills. A box of worms, size 6 hook and a weight is all you need. Good luck and let us know how you do.

I will be sure to report any good places we find. My daughter is not quite the normal kid when it comes to fishing. She loves it! She is 3 now, and started fishing when she was a little over two. Last weekend, after 2 hours of not even getting a real bite on artificials, I was ready to move on. Not her! She kept us fishing for another hour and was still wanting to try different spots as we were leaving. She just learned to cast her own rod last month. We did go back the next day with worms, and let her catch a bunch of little ones. Below are a couple of her catches she got throwing plastic jigs on her own.

Fishing buddy for life! Keep her fishing and you will never go wrong!

She got to eat her first catch today. So far we have always thrown back everything we catch. Today, despite the wind, she caught a large bluegill. I asked if we should throw it back. She said, "No, I want to take'em home, cook'em, and eat'em". That is just what we did. She watched as the fish was cleaned, and helped bread it for frying. She almost ate the whole fish (after I removed the bones).
