I always launch at the state park. I have been miles upriver in my bass boat without a problem. The game wardens patrol in a Ranger.I like fishing the river but I don't catch much.It is my favorite place to go.It's beautiful and a step back in time. For bass get to the lake. It's maybe 4 or 5 miles from the state park so take your time and enjoy the view.

River is pretty good fishing.. just find a row of stumps in about 5 to 7 deep off the bank and start fishing. Pretty reliable anytime of the year.

This is good. I haven't ever fished Caddo either but I too am going this weekend. It looks like from the satellite like there is a river coming in from the north arm and one coming in from the west arm. Which is the river? I want to see the beautiful scenery as well as catch bass.

No on the licence. Put in at Johnson Ranch and the scenery is there. You don't have to look hard. The river is not nearly as amazing as the lake.

Just got back home, fished for 2 wks.Lake is 2'low,if u don't know the lake, this means that all boat lanes are 1.5' deep or less.Bass fishing was very slow,we have been going to caddo for 20yrs.We pull 5th wheel w/bass boat up to shady glade marina and cottages to stay and use their ramp.If u have a lake map, locate it if u don't have a lake map,get one.In the meantime pull Uncertain,Tx up on google. If u have any questions emaim me,have fun.

I definitely wouldn't run down govt ditch on pad.

What are your fishing strengths? By that I mean, do you like to fish in the thicker cover, or drag a worm?

If you have a crappie pole I would bring it, fish the stumps below Johnson's Ranch. Bass fishing has been slow for me on the Texas side, with chrome blue back rat-l-traps catching fish in the same area. I've been doing much better up Jeem's Bayou on the Louisiana side with Lake Fork Crawtube, Lake fork 10" worm and jigs. Be very careful when running lake is very low.

The boat lanes are only 1 1/2' deep? How do you get on plane? Is that just in the river or the whole lake? Must be a shallow lake!

You can fish the Louisiana and Texas side with a Texas fishing liscence. I ran government ditch in a 20 ft bass boat on Friday and a barge on Saturday. The bass fishing has been good for numbers but no size on the river. Work any ditch and cove off of the river and you will catch fish.

Pm me if you need help.
