hello all, Ive got a cousin who lives in a missionary churce in LA, he has no income basiclly lives on what the church and bible can and will provide and donates all of his work. He is in lake Charles LA and loves to fish for red fish every chance he gets. Ive read that alot of you guys like to use certain baits for them and it seems like I remember people talking about gulp shrimp and me being in north TX I dont know much about those baits. long story made short is I would like to buy some of those baits and mail to him from the kindness of my heart. So with that being said Im asking for help as what should I buy and send him. Im thinking 20.00-25.00 worth of baits. thank you.

Theres Chickenboy lures, the lures are very durable, great customer service and fast shipping. He always sends extra samples or an extra pack when you buy 2 packs or more. TTF baits are great also killer flats minnow, hackberry hustler, texas trout killer etc. Gulp shrimp and Jerk Shad some people rig up the Gulp shrimp under a popping cork.

Gulps are about $1 each and do not last very long. They are great lures but the price vs longevity makes it not so ideal a buy in this situation in my opinion. But if you are set on it. New penny color seems to be the best. Shrimp or swimming minnow seem to work the best. Either 3 or 4 inch.

Gold spoons last much longer than plastic baits.
3/4 oz tony Acetta are my favorite.

I agree on the gold spoon...they seem to catch anything...1/2 or 3/4 oz. Johnson Sprite or the weedless Johnson spoon, which can be rigged with plastic if he wishes.

I have also been using the shrimp rigged on a 1/8 oz 2/0 Berkley Gulp Darter jig.

.....good friend of mine has Family that live down on Big Lake and he spent last week with them just hammering the trout and reds there. He was catching two to their ten using the plastics that we usually fish with here in the Galveston area. He used what I would go to which is a gold or silver Johnson Sprite and caught a few more with them still messing with him He finally bit the bullet and switched to a scented MirroLure bait and it was on! He tells me that they lasted a lot longer than a Gulp! as well. As is usually the case at Academy when I went looking for them around here the shelves were bare, but was able to pick up a bunch of them at two different WalMarts. Tried them out in Greens Lake by the red crab trap and I can tell you they do last a lot longer than Gulps! when you are catching the heck out of reds and trout with the occasional flounder thrown into the mix!
...so good it tastes like it died screaming!
